Color:Hybrid (9-46) Ernie Ball Classic Rock N Roll Slinky electric guitar strings are made from pure nickel wire wrapped around hex-shaped, high-carbon steel core wire. The plain strings are made of specially tempered tin plated high-carbon steel. Pure nickel electric guitar strings were the standard in much of the ‘50s and ‘60s and produce a warm, rich tone. Gauges .009, .011, .016, .026, .036, .046.

I have tried numerous pure nickel wrap strings, and these are by far the best sounding and longest lasting in my opinion. The biggest difference that seems to set these apart from the others (DR, GHS, Gibson, etc.) is the phenomenal resonant low end these have. They're not boomy or bassy, there's just a muscular and resonant character to them, with excellent sustain. They must have nailed the core/wrap sizing just right, or something. Aside from that they have the rich/warm vibe that pure nickel wrap is known for, a bit less output than plated steel wrap, and tried and true EB plain strings to top things off. I like the Gibson VR strings almost as much, but the lows aren't as nice (a bit duller, not as smooth feeling) and those tend to get the pure-nickel "speed-bump" thing going pretty quickly after some use, and I've had the winding wear clean through a couple times (haven't had any speed-bumps or wear issues with the EBs). GHS and DR, to me, sound and feel pretty terrible in comparison. Anyway, these are cool.

For years, I have used Earnie Ball strings. I like them because to me, they are always reliable, sound good, and a they feature a small thing that means a lot to me: Each string is in it’s own package. It really gets under my skin with this two string per bag crap many companies sell. I really don’t mind absorbing the extra few cents it must cost to use 6 envelopes instead of 3. It’s just easier to store my old strings in the proper size package incase of an emergency. Plus I just find it more organized and easier to do a string change with each string in it's own pack. I need all the help I can get. I do try to experiment with different brands, and most of the time find myself disappointed. I am sure these are not the best strings out there, I am trying a brand I’ve never tried before next. I rate these strings 5 stars because I hate surprises, and with this brand, there are none. Never have had issues or premature strings breaking or going dead. This is a solid, dependable brand and I find them very easy to work with. Recommended.

I like light strings on Electric guitars. Usually 09's or .10's. I saw an add for Rev. Willy's .07's, but all back ordered. So I found these Ernie Ball .08's. I like Slinky anyway. So I ordered these .08's. So far I've only put them on my PRS . Next the maybe the Les Paul but definitely on my Strats and Tele's. I was surprised at how easily they tuned, and stayed in tune, and how good they play. They have the same punch and power of my chosen strings, D 'Addario. But just as importantly I was concerned about them cutting into the fingers being so thin. Especially the index finger, sliding up and down the neck on Barr Chords. These play like butter. So easy on the hands and fingers , not cutting into the fingers a bit. I feel stupid for not trying these before now. Bends are easy in either direction, super easy actually. For a novice or new player, they won't cut the tips of your fingers. I love em. And will keep them in my string box from this day forward. I'll still try the .07's too. But for $5.95 a pack, you can't go wrong with these strings. UPDATE: Finally got my order of Reverend Willy's .07's in. Also made by Dunlop. These are likewise great strings too. But I have to say these .08's are IMHO the absolute best. If you haven't tried them, they'll change your life.

Please god, never stop making these strings. I love them. After about 15 years of trying different ones, I settled on these. I've continued using them on my primary guitar ever since I got em from a Brooklyn mom n' pop music store clerk, in 2009. I play lead, I play rhythm. I bend harshly and often... I very seldomly break a string or get any real corrosion. I play often, daily, and I end up just changing them every few months, after they start to get deadish. I do wash my hands before playing, unlike most guitar players who I think could stand to ignore Duane Allmans advice on that one. They sound lovely on my big hollowbody with p-90's. It complements the whole british rock sound very well. Nicely rounded highs. Just all around the best I've ever found in almost 30 years of playing guitar. <3 Julie Bee using her sisters amazon account.

I first discovered these strings about 25 years ago. I chose them for possibly the dumbest reason to buy something, but there was a valid primary reason: the music store didn't have my usual strings. So I picked the strings with the coolest packaging. It's the best decision I've ever made when it comes to my guitars. For the past 25 years, they're the only strings I'll use. The sound, the feel and the flexibility make these strings unique and necessary. I can't believe I actually used a different brand the first few years I played guitar.

I bought these for a friend just learning to play and he broke the B and E (little E) strings first rattle out of the cage. I did tune his guitar for him before the great great string massacre so it was not because of improper stringing or tuning. I have been playing guitar for 30 years and know a thing or two. I also didn't like the sound or the action these strings offered before handing his axe off to him. I recommend you spend a little more money for a better quality string IMHO.
