Description

Strum confidently with the same premium acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available. Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set. Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes? Engineered to endure, these acoustic strings constructed with phosphor bronze wrap wire boast a dynamic balance of rich, full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity. Compared to our original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel. For a slicker, gentler feel, try a set of strings with our original POLYWEB Coating. The 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, for example, might be a good fit if you want a more robust and rounded tone. On the other end of the tone spectrum, our 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating deliver a brighter, crisper tone alongside the same traditional feel as these phosphor bronze strings. Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. For a more in-depth look at what makes our strings so special, scroll to the branded info further down the page. • These strings WILL survive the tropics.
Style: HD Light (.013-.053) Pattern Name: Guitar Strings Size: HD Light
I live in a tropical country that normally reports 80% humidity and ABOVE throughout the year. Add some sun and you got that lovely and uncomfortable stickiness that nobody enjoys. With that, regular guitar strings don't last. Whether you are inland or at the beach, regular guitar strings will rust and snap. I met a musician who had been living here for years, who represents a major video game producer as a composer, who showed me his guitar and the first thing I noticed was his strings were SHINY. They looked brand-freakin'-new. And I commented: "You just restrung your guitar?" He said no! He restrung his guitar like a year prior!! But how?! "Elixir's, man. That's the secret." Subsequently, he played a nice guitar solo. I did my homework and got these strings in October, not expecting much. It's the last half of JULY and my strings still look freakin' new! They sound great, they play great. They feel slick on the fingers, which has it's pros and cons. Less string squeak, more grip needed when string bending. They don't gunk up and feel sticky after a gross accumulation of finger funk. Win-win-win in my books. Overall they are amazing. I got the phosphor bronze Elixirs for my 6 string acoustic, which sounds amazing; same for my 12 string acoustic, which also sounds incredible; and I have another Elixir pack (nickel plated steels) on the way for my 12 string electric (which feels unheard of). These strings will definitely not last forever, but they will extend the life of your strings by a LOT. I like to play for many hours along the week, sometimes investing several hours in playing per day. I don't "shred", but I don't believe I play "soft". These strings will last a long while, as long as you don't play with a cutting edge (i.e. fingernails or freshly stamped pick which edges haven't been sanded/filed) because once the thin plastic is exposed, these strings will lose their magic. ... show more

  • Beautiful Sound
Style: Ex. Light (.010-.047) Pattern Name: Guitar Strings Size: Extra Light
I bought a used Fender acoustic recently — sounded a bit dull at first, but when I replaced the old strings with Elixirs, the instrument really came to life. Deep low end, clear middles and bright highs. Perfect. Love these strings and will be a loyal customer.

  • coating makes strings sound less bright
Style: Ex. Light (.010-.047) Pattern Name: Guitar Strings Size: Extra Light
they are coated so you cannot here that noise when you slide your finger over it. Now I miss it. I think it all depends on the sound of your guitar. Next time I will try non coated strings They are very good if you move your hand up and down the neck a lot

  • The best strings I tried
Style: Ex. Light (.010-.047) Pattern Name: Guitar Strings Size: Extra Light
I had a buddy tell me that I had to try these. He said that they easily last twice as long as normal strings, and they sound better the longer you play them. Turns out, he was right. The reason why is because the coating used to protect the strings does dull the sound a little bit. and you don't truly get a true feel for what they can sound like until they're really broken in. I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Just don't change your strings right before a show. They do last twice as long, though, and even out-of-the-package, they sound better than most other strings I've tried. I typically used Martin strings before mostly because I felt that if Martin makes such awesome guitars, they must make Martin strings to go with them. The strings I usually purchased where the Martin Authentic Lifespan 2.0. I personally own two Taylors and a Takamine acoustic, and most folks know that Taylors come stock with Elixir strings. Personally, I think that's because it helps Taylor sell guitars. When I was playing the Martin next to the Taylor at the music store, I preferred the sound of the Taylor. It was strong in the mids, subdued but still bright in the highs, and they had a wonderfully subdued bass sound that you could feel more than you could hear. The Martin seemed more well rounded, but the Taylor stood out because it rang out much longer. I think it was the strings, and I didn't realize this until knowingly changing from my normal Martin strings to the Elixers on my guitars at home. Three guitars all produced superior results for different reasons. On my old Takamine workhorse, the Elixir strings produced a lot more sustain from a fairly weak sounding guitar. I was used to having to plug it in if I wanted people to be able to hear the guitar over my singing, and that became no longer necessary. On my Taylor Mini, the Elixirs greatly reduced the clinky sound strumming made, which was overwhelming with the Martin strings. This was the most noticeable difference. The Mini sounded really bad with the Martin strings by comparison. On my baby, though, that punch from the bass that you can feel more than you can hear has returned. It doesn't sound like it produces a very loud sound, but that sound carries a long way. I love singing with it. It's the only guitar of the three where I can actually hear the strings ring out loud enough to harmonize my voice with them, and I am truly in love with that feeling. I wasn't able to attain that nearly to the same degree with the Martin strings. The other thing that I want to point out is that these seem to be easier to tune, and they stay in tune. usually, when I first string a guitar, I like to strum around a little bit and then retune. I've been finding that with these strings, I don't have to. Plus, it's actually kind of strange if I pick it up and it's out of tune. I truly believe the strings have something to do with that. ... show more

  • Absolutely perfect
Style: Lt./Med. (.012-.056) Pattern Name: Guitar Strings Size: Light/Medium
Some of the best strings I've ever used. Feels great to play on once you break them in. Fingers slide well on them and they don't have that old string feel. Great sound from them too.
