  • Smooth strings
Nice long lasting strings with a soft tone.

  • First set. Good so far
Over the years I've switched from D'Addario to Martin strings for my acoustics, but never tried Ernie Balls until now. I'm into this first set by about a week now, and probably a dozen or so hours. I like them so far, but I tend to like my strings a little on the old side to find their true tone, so we'll see in time how they do. My first impression is that they have a warmer "new" sound than comparable Martins. That might be an advantage especially for those playing instruments with warmer tonewoods like mahogany tops, etc. I also noticed that the strings feel a little "looser" and easier to fret or bend than new Martins. So far, I'm glad I tried these. I like my Martin strings a lot for their brighter tone initially and their warmth once they settle in. These will have a place in my string box for sure for when I want something a little mellower. I'm curious to see how they are after they find their level. Will update. ... show more

  • Great sound, especially for the price
Sound great with my Taylor 110-CE. Great feel, bright, full sound. I switched from D’Addario, which were starting to sound a bit flat, despite being in tune. These sound way better IMO.

  • Break Too Easily
I bought this 3 pack of 11 Gauge strings as I tend to play heavy on the strings. I was previously using D'addario XT 10 Gauge and broke the occasional string. I thought moving up to 11 G would help. On NY Eve alone I broke 3 strings, 1 the week before and another the week before that. What a waste of time buying these. I'll buying the D'Addario again and again after trying these out. Good for light use and beginners but not suitable for Live or other important use. ... show more

  • Beautiful rich sound and easy on the fingers
These have a wonderful warm tone and are fairly light so will be down a little in volume but not too bad. Certainly easier on the fingers but don't expect them to all of a sudden make your acoustic feel like an electric! Barre's are quite a bit easier but not electric-easy.

  • My Go To Strings
Very nice strings, especially for the price. I use these on my personal guitars and also use on the guitars I repair and/or refurbished for sale. They have a bright strong sound but with a feeling of warmth, not a tiny sound at all. Highly recommend these...

  • My preferred strings
How something "sounds" is subjective. You know what they say about opinions. That being said... these are my preferred strings. Long lasting, great sound, very playable. My acoustic tends to be a little BASS heavy and with the wrong strings it gets muddy. These bright a nice balance to my tone. Been playing 30+ years and these are my favorite. ... show more

  • Improves the sound of the guitar
These guitar strings play well and produce wonderful tone. They sustain well, and they generate good volume and balance.
