  • Inferior design wins again
The adf apparently cannot be sized to scan 4x6 photos. The slider only goes as small as letter sized paper. So, I stuck my photos into the adf to test anyway and they constantly get jammed in the adf mechanism. The hp envy and Canon megatank I tried at least scanned them. The Epson just kept getting jammed when scanning via the adf. Speaking of paper size... The printer cannot auto detect the paper you have in the feeder. So, it constantly prompts you to override what you have set in the control panel. Photo quality is subpar. You can clearly discern pixelation in the prints, even using their Epson paper. The hp envy was much better photo print quality but too bad it had a cartridge detection issue shortly after updating firmware. Epson app is poorly designed. I was not able to have it connect to the printer post-initialization. Somehow it didn't know what the printer's ip was after connecting to the wifi direct and connecting to my wifi. I think it at least allowed add by ip and that's how it connected finally (unlike the hp smart app where they don't let you add by ip). ... show more

  • Es excelente, desde el primer día a sido eficiente.
La impresora ET-4800 es eficiente, el rendimiento de su tinta es aún mejor. Tremenda inversión para la oficina en casa, la recomiendo.

  • Took me 3 tries to get one that worked
Our old office printer Epson Workforce finally quit on us after almost a decade of service and wanted to invest in the EcoTank series to save money on ink. I have tried conversions with our other Epson printers and while they work for a couple months, they tend to start leaking and making a mess inside of the printers or all over the prints. There are so many variants of the EcoTank series that it was tough to read all about the differences. What we required was an all in one that also faxed as we still (unfortunately) still do a lot of faxing at work. After unboxing this unit, it was IMMENSELY lighter than our old Workforce printer, I could already tell it didn't share the same build quality as the WF series, but I didn't want that initial impression to make me biased right off the bat...but that's when the trouble started. Our first EcoTank printer was purchased at a local big box store, unboxed it, set it up, and during the first startup procedure, the heads would not move, it would make a grinding noise and already knew this had to go back. The store did not have another one in stock so we just got a refund. Our second EcoTank (same exact model) came from Amazon, thus this review. I set it up just like the last one and this one finished the start up process without error. I was able to align the heads, and print quite a few pages. Print quality was decent enough for office work and it was much quieter than our WorkForce printer. Speed was ok, but we use our laser printers if we're printing a large number of pages out anyway so that wasn't a concern. Our primary use for this printer was during the few times we need a color print, to fax, and to make copies. I did test the scanner, but only the bed - which worked fine. Fast forward a couple days in, one of my employees needed to scan 15 or so pages so he loaded it up on the document feeder, hit copy....and nothing. Looking over the manual, it showed that when the document feeder was loaded, it would display "ADF" on the screen - got nothing. Taking with Epson support, they said that the ADF sensor was defective and it would have to be sent it for repair/replacement. I told them no thanks and took advantage of my Amazon Prime returns and simply got a refund. Despite having an issue twice already with this model, we decided to try one last time and found the printer locally again, this time on sale. So far the third one has been the charm. All features work fine including the document feeder. It's been a couple weeks now and no reported issues. The EcoTank idea is great, but it seems like they are skimping on quality or at least quality checks on these lower end ones. My only other complain is the pitiful screen on this thing. Our old WorkForce had a nice large touch screen, this.....one however....is the size of a Tamagachi screen...and not much higher resolution either. No touch on this, my finger would take up half the screen if it was. 3 MONTH UPDATE So the printer has been printing fine for 3 months since purchase (mind you, this is the third one) but recently the heads started to get out of alignment. No big deal, I'll just do the alignment I thought....No matter how many times I align the heads, clean the heads, choose a different alignment pattern, I get skewed or skipped lines on my prints. I am done with this printer. I was considering getting a more expensive EcoTank but now I'm just disappointed that Epson would even release a product this bad that it makes me consider going a different brand. Overall, I would not recommend this printer. FINAL UPDATE 2/22/2023 The third one has gotten to the point where any usage scenario is a finicky interaction. I'm ready to go Office Space on it. Despite being burned with Epson, we replaced it with the much more expensive ET-5180. This one feels much higher quality, prints duplex, and just...works. Spend the extra cash and get the higher end models, it'll be cheaper in the long run. One thing to note...of the 3 different eco tank printers we've purchased ( we have a 3 series)....they all take different ink bottles....like the ink appears to be the same, but the nozzles are changed slightly so they don't fit into the other printers...why Epson...why? ... show more

  • Very over priced for what you get.
Bought this expensive printer because it was a Mega-tank ink printer with an auto-fed document scanning. Pros: 1) Mega tank filled easily and replacement ink is cheap compared to my 15 year old Canon MG6120 2) It's smaller and lighter weight Cons: 1) The plastic construction feels like a 1970s cheapo dot matrix printer. Thin and cheap. 2) There are no paper trays. Stack it up in a feeder located on the backside like 1970s again. 3) The LED screen is very tiny, and vertical with no tilt so hard to read and select a menu. 4) The installation/set-up tutorial disk leaves off a very important instruction when 1st charging the ink and that is to press the "diamond" shaped button to initiate the process. Had to call help line to learn that was the last step. 5) Print quality is average with colors looking faded and not rich. Again like a 1970s color printer. 6). Scanner natural resolution is not very high. Keeping my Canon for scanning as it has much higher resolution and better software. Just stop printing after 15 years. Conclusion: It works as designed, but not best quality. I'd buy another Mega tank model over this one as it is not worth $377. It shouldn't cost more that $150 as it is cheap. ... show more

  • Throw away my HP printer
You can buy this EchoTank printer with the money saving on ink cartridges. I was paying $30 per month on INSTANT INK from HP. HP printers are less costly because they make their money on expensive cartridges. First having ink in a bottle has been needed for years. I like the features and print quality and ease of use. It's nice to be able to add paper while the printer is running because it is added on the back of the printer. Scanning is nice because I can scan pages of a booklet with the cover that expands with the hinges. This printer has Fax capability which I had to have. All-in-all I like my decision. ... show more

  • Good printer for low use.
I found I was printing a lot of color prints. This printer was a hassle for 2 sided printing since the paper has to be flipped. It only holds about 45 pages of card stock at a time and it already needs a new ink spunge. It has to be cleaned a lot as well. Lots of waist trying to get things right. I love the idea, and ebson as a brand but this just didn't live up to my WF-3640. Also you should know it does not do borderless printing. ... show more
