I bought this Sept 2021. The price was around $100 and I was looking for a inexpensive printer. I do low volume printing and I have never had a problem with this printer. Plus you can buy ink without a contract.

    • It prints. It has a hard time connecting to WiFi and Colors are muted
I wouldn't use this for photo prints. Colors are muted, it takes A LOT OF INK JUST TO ALIGN THE DARN INK CARTRIDGES. But, I can print and scan. Footprint is okay. Drops WiFi connectivity frequently.

Increased my rating from 1 star to 4 star. Back to being a fan of Canon. This printer became a straight forward "plug-and-play" with my MacBook Pro running macOS Monterey 12.6.3 when I simply connected it to my computer using an Apple USB-C to USB Adapter without following any of the installation instructions that came with the printer. One star reduction from 5 star because the installation instructions were far, far more complicated that necessary and with that caused considerable unnecessary frustration and loss of time. --- I purchased this Canon printer over a year ago to replace a Canon printer that had performed flawlessly with my Mac for years. This printer scans and copies as advertised, however I don't print often (about once a year) and on the occasion when I need to print it can take hours of troubleshooting software drivers, cables, and network connections to maybe, possibly, on a good day maybe get a printed page. Far too time intensive and frustrating for my use case. ... show more

    • Still working today with good print quality for normal household tasks
We’ve had this printer for about 2 years now and it still works great! We use it for normal household printing. My only complaint is that the paper tray will occasionally get stuck and takes a little wiggling to get in the right position.

    • Slow to Start, Slow to finish job, slow to shut down
This is the absolute worse printer I have ever used. My cheap HP printer at work prints faster, just as good and resets/shuts down fast. This printer will make noise and boot up for about 1-2 minutes before it is ready (I am on extremely fast wifi). It will take a very long time to print 10 + pages. It is very slow to respond, and sometimes it is non responsive (have to shut down printer, and wait, and wait and wait for shutdown, then turn back on) to finish a job of any size other than a couple pages. I started to print a 30 page document at 3 minutes before starting this review. It is just now finishing up the 30 pages as I write this last line (stopping and making spelling corrections and proof reading). Very disappointed in this printer. I do not recommend. ... show more

I have had similar Cannon printers previously. They are a little quirky and take a while to start up. As was my previous one. Heavier plastic would be better and more sturdy. It works well though. I like this printer a lot.

I bought it because you can use a USB cord with it. My last Canon Printer lasted 10 years. This one is unusable after a few months. Paper jams started after 5 months and now it is totally useless. .

    • I hate this printer with a passion
DO NOT BUY. It does not want to connect to your wifi, it does not want to recognize your printer, it does not want your printer to recognize it, and it is a PITA to work with. And the ink is expensive. Not worth your hard-earned money. I got this for a gift and it has never worked, the recipient finally told me he got a different one because he could not get it to work, and since I can't return it so long after buying it, it really makes me angry. If you see one on FB Marketplace it will probably be his. ... show more
