    • Really great printer for a first-time printer owner
This is my first printer I've ever owned and by far it is a really good printer I had an easy time setting up instructions for really easy the only issue I had was trying to connect it to my phone or to my computer after a while I did get it hooked up and now I can print whatever I want the pictures come out phenomenal the color of it is really nice is for size 2 and I have I have not tried the fax on it yet so I don't know how that works I haven't copied anything yet so far I've only done Printing and so far it works really good the only problem is that it doesn't take postcard paper or a card paper where's a little bit thicker I was trying to make business cards and it just jammed the paper. Overall this is a really nice printer it does what you need to do this is my first printer and I really like it I would suggest this printer to a friend or to anyone else. And the price of ink is really reasonable and that was one of the main reasons why I chose this printer and so far what I've always already printed hasn't taken up that much ink I think if I was to do more pictures I would need to replace my ink more but other or not it's really nice. ... show more

got so could do fax, copies, and connect to computer and it does a good job. prints nicely and copies look like the original. nice size so doesn't take up a lot of space. print cartridges bit high and uses more ink than old printer; need to use few times a month to keep from becoming clogged but does the print job exceptional. connected easy but have to use the printer's display to do most of the adjustments (I prefer on computer since bigger screen) and my fingers doesn't always hit the right spot on display which gets frustrating but once set up, it's worth the money. ... show more

    • WORTHLESS TO ME
What a waste of money. original review titled "Would't reliably connect wirelessly, doesnt work with panel down, document feed terrible." I wanted something simple for home use and what I needed most was a scanner with a document feed. The first problem is the device would not connect reliably via wireless. This was irritating but honestly, I prefer a cable since I take my laptop back and forth from the office I like to plug in my printer/scanners so there is less of a delay with the computer trying to determine which device to connect to. This printer did not come with a cable so I had to purchase one. $10 and a week later I am plugging in and trying again. Test a print, oops won't print with the command panel closed. I have to stand to see the command panel when it is open so I can't use the printer without standing from my desk. Frustrating, yes, dealbreaker, not yet. Frustrated but undaunted I proceed to use the scanner my most crucial feature. I really need the feeder because I scan several items a day and want to use the feeder to make a tedious process faster. Every document I fed jammed. Now I have wasted a week of time and in my foolish confidence, I threw the box away and am stuck with this useless frustrating piece of crap. ------------------------- after a week or so decided I would see if I could at LEAST use this thing to print checks. Tried back paper feed (manual feed) and the printer will not pull from there even when I remove the main paper try. Put the check in the main paper try and it jammed on printing. If you try to do anything but the straight print on 20lb copy paper you are going to be disappointed in this printer ... show more

    • It’s the third canon I’ve owned so it can’t be all bad!
I particularly like the document feed. This I need for thicker paper. It’s also has a cartridge feed which for normal copy paper; works fine. This model is almost exactly like the last model I owned, I don’t recall the number, and they both have one annoying feature which is you have to wake it up. If I print from another room I have to get up & go into the office and press the button. There is a way to override this. I’m sure it’s something simple. I don’t install the software on all my devices and that’s probably why. I’m careful with ink, its expensive. I buy high-yield cartridges & whenever possible print at 75% or smaller to save ink. It works very well. I don’t print photos so I dont know how well it performs. There is a suite of creative choices. I don’t really use them. I print invoices for the most part. I have found, and this is my third canon printer, after a couple years they just quit. One day they just don’t work anymore. This has happened to me twice but liked it well enough to purchase a third. I feel it is good for the money- a good economical product, a good value ... show more

    • Printer Description is Deceptive - Some Clarifications...
I bought this printer to replace a previous Canon PIXMA that I had had since 2012. My previous Pixma was terrific but eventually the printhead went bad and I figured I’d put my money towards a new machine. I’m very disappointed with this printer. While it does say in the description “auto on/off,” this is deceiving. Yes, you can set the printer to turn on when a job is sent to it. But you also have to go to the printer and open the door so the print job will happen. Alternately, you could leave the door open all the time but as a technology professional I know this will lead to dust getting into the system and a quicker failure. The second thing that disappointed me was the fact that you have to manually assist to duplex copy by turning the paper over and re-inserting it yourself. My previous Canon PIXMA did not require that I manually assist. I paid about the same amount of money for my last PIXMA so I don’t know why I am being short changed this time! The pluses for this printer are that it prints beautifully and that you only have to replace the ink cartridge for the color that is low, which saves money. ... show more
