Bought this after buying a new Epson which would not stay online. This seems like a very superior product. Installation script was much better, able to use the standard Apple Secure AirPrint driver. Visible from iPhone right away. Much heavier and more solid feeling than the Epson. Has an enclosed paper tray and a rear-feeding tray for stiffer photo paper. Has a real touch screen. STAYS ONLINE :-) Nits: paper tray has a separate piece (dust shield?) which is awkward. Control panel must be flipped up and output tray opened in order to print. This results in a somewhat inconvenient control panel angle and potentially delicate condition (have cats) so it will have to be opened and closed when needed. At least the panel gives you a message with instructions and a picture. ... show more

    • It’s the third canon I’ve owned so it can’t be all bad!
I particularly like the document feed. This I need for thicker paper. It’s also has a cartridge feed which for normal copy paper; works fine. This model is almost exactly like the last model I owned, I don’t recall the number, and they both have one annoying feature which is you have to wake it up. If I print from another room I have to get up & go into the office and press the button. There is a way to override this. I’m sure it’s something simple. I don’t install the software on all my devices and that’s probably why. I’m careful with ink, its expensive. I buy high-yield cartridges & whenever possible print at 75% or smaller to save ink. It works very well. I don’t print photos so I dont know how well it performs. There is a suite of creative choices. I don’t really use them. I print invoices for the most part. I have found, and this is my third canon printer, after a couple years they just quit. One day they just don’t work anymore. This has happened to me twice but liked it well enough to purchase a third. I feel it is good for the money- a good economical product, a good value ... show more

I had to buy a new computer, so you know my trusty, good old printer doesn't work with the new computer..blah, blah, blah. I wanted double-sided printing, copying, and scanning, auto-wake when I printed/scanned, printer that holds at least 50 blank sheets, easy to use, and airprint capabilities. I wanted a workhorse, a printer that doesn't suck ink, doesn't stop working when one color of the ink is out, doesn't stop printing when half of the ink is still left in the cartridge, and doesn't require expensive ink. It's impossible to find all of that. WHY? Also, the video for this product says that this printer costs about $85 less than I paid for it (video says $130, I paid $209, and today it says $225). I literally got sick of looking at reviews for printers (and being disappointed), had a ton of docs to print, and just settled for this printer. It prints double-sided, the print quality is nice, cheap ink is available, and it took 15 minutes from taking it out of the box to printing docs. Everything else I hoped for? No. Although, I've only had the printer for about a week, so I don't know if it sucks ink or only uses half the cartridge before it stops printing. For the price, swipe left. I wish that my options were better...I wish I would have had more patience and chose a less expensive printer with the same substandard options. If anyone has suggestions on the perfect printer, I'm more than willing to buy a different printer that doesn't give me more work. ... show more

    • Really great printer for a first-time printer owner
This is my first printer I've ever owned and by far it is a really good printer I had an easy time setting up instructions for really easy the only issue I had was trying to connect it to my phone or to my computer after a while I did get it hooked up and now I can print whatever I want the pictures come out phenomenal the color of it is really nice is for size 2 and I have I have not tried the fax on it yet so I don't know how that works I haven't copied anything yet so far I've only done Printing and so far it works really good the only problem is that it doesn't take postcard paper or a card paper where's a little bit thicker I was trying to make business cards and it just jammed the paper. Overall this is a really nice printer it does what you need to do this is my first printer and I really like it I would suggest this printer to a friend or to anyone else. And the price of ink is really reasonable and that was one of the main reasons why I chose this printer and so far what I've always already printed hasn't taken up that much ink I think if I was to do more pictures I would need to replace my ink more but other or not it's really nice. ... show more

Outstanding print quality on photo paper. Auto feed works well. Set up was simple and wireless connection to my network was pretty much automatic. The front panel tilts up and seems flimsy but no problems after several months. Now the bad news -- this thing inhales ink compared to my old pixma printer. 4 months and already ordering second set of replacement cartridges. Printed fewer than 20 photos and 50 pages. The somewhat good news -- it hasn't had an issue (so far) accepting third party cartridges. ... show more

I needed a printer For my small business and spent too much time looking at reviews and finally took a chance and ordered the Canon. It is good so far. Set up was lengthy but easy. Speed is good and better than expected. It prints 2 sided and I can easily print from my phone and computer. No opinion on how long the ink will last....to soon to tell. ... show more

I gave this such a low score because I never could get it hooked up to find out what the print quality was or how anything worked. Tech support tried to help but to no avail. One thing for sure is that when it did try to print it rattled so hard I thought it was going to shake right off the desk. Other reviews I read were great and that is why I purchased it but I must have gotten a lemon. I have had other Canon printers and they worked great! I was so very pleased with the return procedure.... no hassles and purchased a Brother printer from Amazon that is fantastic. ... show more
