  • This XL series is the real deal by Eagles Nest Outfitters
This is an excellent item to purchase for any outdoor enthusiast. I purchased this item to go with my ENO hammock. Very pleased with the overall length and durability of the material. Held strong during a storm with high winds, none of my gear got wet nor did it blow away. Very easy to set up and take down. I really like the versatility of the adjustment tabs on each of the anchoring locations, very easy to maintain tension without having to make numerous knots. Highly recommend upgrading with the XL compared to the regular Profly. It gives you more than enough room to cover the hammock and plenty of extra space to hang gear. For the size of this tarp it truly does compact quite nicely, weighing in at only 2.1 pounds this not only reduces the weight of an average tarp of this size but condenses into the usual ENO storage bag. It is difficult initially to fold back into the bag but once you use it more the material with stretch and becomes easier to fold and stuff in sack. I only have one issues with this set up overall but it will not effect my overall rating. This is a very large tarp there are six different anchoring point that are all sufficient structure wise. My only real complaint is with the paracord. It is decent material that will last for a very long time but I like the strength and durability of the Titan™ Paracord series. Very strong and can stretch to fully ensure you are getting the length you need. I enjoy this purchase and I use it frequently. I have not encountered any issues with the overall coverage I am glad I went with the XL and you will be as well. ... show more

  • Acceptable tarp but room for improvement
Color: Navy/Grey
I am an avid hammock camper and several setups for myself and my sons. I purchased this tarp based on its longer ridgeline length of 13' which provides better coverage in rainy conditions. All in all, this tarp delivers well on the dimensions and runs about 13' x 9', more than enough coverage for most camping conditions. Solid score on that front and the value at $100 is great. Admittedly, the tarp is a bit heavier if you are an ultralight hiker (most of us aren't), but that's really not a deal breaker either. Where I had my biggest hang up, was the bag that comes with it. It is way too small for a tarp this size and when you're breaking camp, especially under wet conditions, it is an incredible pain to try to force that tarp back into the bag. Not a deal breaker for a casual camper and in fact if that's the case, I actually would recommend this as a solid mid level tarp. If, however, you plan to hike through and will be setting and breaking camp each day, are concerned with backpack weight, or in general want higher performing gear (think Warbonnet), just go ahead and spend a little bit more and invest in a much higher quality product. ... show more

  • Great purchase experience with seller
Color: Navy/Grey
Great purchase experience with seller, arrived quickly/on-time for a camping trip to the coast in rainy Olympic National Park. Tarp is great. Comes with attached cords/tensioners pre-attached, which wasn't super clear in the product details. I had purchased some additional small diameter cord to help deploy the tarp between trees. Ended up being glad I did as included cords were fairly short (i.e. not enough for old growth fir in ONP). I'm not a hammock user; this was used simply to provide some additional dry area to cook under and store gear on rainy trips. I set it up with a slightly flatter pitch than shown in the product images since I was trying to get maximum coverage (but still shed rain). All-in-all, quite pleased with tarp. I considered the lighter weight sil-tarp version but this was only a couple oz. lighter and cheaper (more importantly, sil version was not available in time for my trip). No regrets. Tarp sets up quickly and easily and the caternary cut does a good job of keeping it taught. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that I'd like a couple additional attachment points along the long end to help spread the tension and keep the tarp taught in windy conditions. ... show more

  • The rain hitting the rainfly was actually a pretty neat sound
Color: Gray
I ordered this a few days before a camping trip in the George Washington Thomas Jefferson National Forest. The weather reports were calling for rain all weekend but we decided to still make the trip. Luckily there was no rain on Friday so we were able to set everything up in dry weather. I woke up in my hammock on Saturday morning to it absolutely pouring. The rain hitting the rainfly was actually a pretty neat sound. The rain continued all day Saturday. The rainfly was obviously soaked but not a single drop came through and everything underneath of it was dry. My only suggestion to new users is to make sure your ridge line and the corners are extremely tight during set up. Otherwise it will sag a little when it starts to pour. My lines were a little too loose and the underside of the rainfly was almost touching my hammock while I was laying in it. If you reach out and touch the underside of the rainfly you can actually feel cold moisture on your hands but still nothing gets through. I would absolutely recommend spending the extra money and getting the XL. Nice product. ... show more

  • YES!!! - GREAT RainFly, Worth the Investment...
This is a FANTASTIC RainFly!!!!! I am very pleased with ENO's efforts and thought put into the design of the ProFly XL. I was interested in having a rainfly with substantial coverage and the ENO ProFly XL is exactly that!! I tried another companies product first, which advertised it was XL, but found that it was not genuinely XL in function and more importantly in comparison to the ENO ProFly XL, which is 3 feet larger in length & width. I sent the competitors product back because it was inadequate and not built well, it might be XL for their product line, but not XL compared to this ENO ProFly. The ENO ProFly XL has great coverage, if that is what you are looking for, and is very well built. I am going to be putting it to the test in a few weeks when I go on a 3 day hiking trip in the Appalachian mountains. I will try to update on how this ProFly XL performed. ... show more
