Seven days of use so tentative review but it all works as it's supposed to. The software has not required re-pairing to the Ember. Being able to walk around with the cup and not have it too tethered to a heating coaster is a good feature. The battery charge is enough for leisurely sipping all the way through the mug and a refill. But in my experience the charge always runs out during the third mug, so now I tend to keep the coaster near and use it some of the time. 145 F turns out to be hot enough but just barely. Didn't realize I favoured the hotter temps of coffee drinking but apparently so. If you add cream, you'll find it drops the temp a lot so if your 2nd or 3rd cup is coming out of the pot not as hot as your first, and then you add cream, your temp will be 130F or so. The cup is not designed to heat your coffee from a lower temp. For me it's managed to get a up up from 130F to 145F but slowly, and I've taken to heating water in the kettle to pre-heat the Ember for each cup. It's winter and the house is colder so maybe this will be less necessary in other seasons. The heating function doesn't turn off immediately as soon as it's empty so it does tend to cook some coffee onto the bottom surface after your last sip, but I've found it to be easy to clean. I had sipper mug lids that fit this cup already in my cupboard so you may already have something that fits. A lid does improve the heating efficiency a lot if you're trying to raise the temp after adding cream. So, overall I use this the same way as I used any other cup, still pre-heating with water from the kettle etc., but the difference is the last sip is as hot as the first sip. I got the travel mug as a gift from a friend as she spoke highly of the company and their top notch customer service. The top failed to click into the drinking position after almost a year from purchase and maybe me dropping it at the gym. The company sent me two tops to replace the one without hassle. Impressed with their customer service, I then purchased this Smart Mug for my husband and he loves it. He drinks about 5 cups of coffee a day and normally let’s them sit to only pour them out after their cold. He likes the fact that he doesn’t have to microwave the coffee and burn it because it stays at a drinking temperature and same taste. Highly recommended. ... show more

This is my 2nd Ember mug ,I use the 6 Oz expresso version with ease and no problem with the mug or app.This version is a Tina little strange but works as advertised.I charge the battery up to,100% and the light turns green,But right taking it off the charger it drops down to 91%,the heater will still make it through my 1.5-2 cups drinking within 2 hours.That includes the cooldown time when the coffee is about 150 out 9f the degrees out of the pot until it reaches 135.It stays at 135 very easily and at that temperature I get the best flavor out of the coffee,After about 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours the app reads 6% ,which seems to stay there for quite awhile.The Ming works fine it just strange it like to start at 91% and the “bottom” is 6%.It does a good job at turning off when empty and reading temperature quickly.Great for slow coffee drinkers,excellent gift and very neat construction.It’s better than just a gimmicky idea for the serious coffee fan.Hopefully a software update for the mug will fix the strange battery readings. ... show more

I love my ember mug. I wish it came with a lid, and it needs to be 16oz. Because it's annoying to have to make each cup of coffee separate I prefer just one big cup not yet small ones. I can't wait to start seeing these at restaurants and ember you should make these for restaurants. Imo. But as for why I bought it to keep my coffee hot, this is the best option.. don't deal with knock offs I think you'll regret any other choices. I tried a heating pad and a insulated mug at first but eventually just spent the money on this thing. Also just be aware you can't fill it to the top so it really holds 12oz. Please make a 16oz ember cup. ... show more

I'm surprised every time I take a sip and it's just as hot as the one before. Love this thing. Bought a few of them now. My mom is always throwing her tea in the microwave cause she takes a while to finish and doesn't enjoy it if it isn't hot. This solves that. Works perfectly. My input for improvement is why not be able to make adjustments right on the mug? I mean it's super great that I can see details about the battery and change temperature with the app on my phone. But that's not as convenient as being able to change it on the mug. Phone is great as a backup method, but local control should be the primary in a gadget like this. ... show more

I've tried everything to keep my coffee and tea warm. In the winter, we keep the temperature low, which means my coffee gets cold even faster. And over the years, I've learned to drink it ice cold. The cost of the Ember kept me from buying one. But it was a great investment. Since I bought it, my hot beverages have always been at the right temperature. I went to visit family over the holidays and ended up with a cold cup of coffee--and it was awful! I may have to start bringing my Ember with me when I travel. ... show more

Love the cup as it can take me an hour or so to drink a cup in the morning (my meetings start early) so the constant temperature allows me to sip normally and not rush it down. I just wish they had a 16oz cup. The heating element gives your hands a false sense of how much is left in the cup, so you think you have half a cup to go and you’re literally just have a sip left. ... show more
