The lamp is perfect for my den & is very pretty. It’s very sturdy & well made. The 3 lights light up my whole den & the two small globes are moveable. We did have issues after putting the whole lamp together, the light switch, which is way up the top of the pole (which other reviewers were not happy about), just fell off. I wondered if someone broke it & returned it. I called the company & their phone message suggests you email them. They were very prompt in returning my emails but there was some confusion as to what we needed. They mailed us just a switch the first time & then something my husband wasn’t even sure what it was (he wanted a socket where the switch goes into & he was going to rewire the lamp). My husband then called to see if a live conversation would do the trick. He was surprised & thrilled when he was told they would just ship us another lamp. This is awesome customer service & I wish other companies would handle a problem this way. I really appreciate that & love my new lamp! I’ve read that some people are not happy with where the switch is. We wound up using a timer that we plug the lamp into & it come off & on for the times we need it & that’s perfect! ... show more

I purchased 3 of these. 2 of them were as described. The 2nd one was a mess from the first day I tried to install. Thought I could fix it, but couldn't (It stayed wobbly and the switch didn't work.} The other 2 are wonderful. I don't care for black in my dressier living room, so I sprayed them with hammered gold and they are most lovely, durable, and helpful to guests for reading. I love mine. So the lamp is a good deal and lovely piece, but if yours is wobbly from the first day, or doesn't turn switch easily, then return asap because these are very nice, stable, simple to assemble and lovely to enjoy light enhancers for any room. ... show more

Before you assemble a floor lamp like this one, take your index finger and roll it around the inside of the connecting lamp pole rods. Sometimes the metal threaded rods have a little extra metal inside the bar that needs to be shaved off. And you will be able to feel it with your finger. The complaints about pole misalignment are related to this. To fix it, take a pair of pliers or a metal file and use it to file the threaded metal on the inside of the bar. If you have a hard time screwing the threads together, the little extra metal is the cause. I would take the stickers off the lamp shades and put them on the bottom of the base piece. Otherwise, you will see the stickers when you turn on the lamp lights. The main lamp can take up to a 100 Watt bulb. The two side lamps each can take up to a 60 Watt bulb. I put dimmable LED light bulbs in mine. It does not come with bulbs. But the price is good for the quality. It looks a lot better than many other lamps. You can knock this floor lamp over if you put it in a spot near where people walk. One reason is it is 6 feet tall instead of 5 feet tall. Most 5 feet tall floor lamps have regular lamp shades on them. I would have liked to see more weight in the base or have it distributed along the periphery rather than the center to address this limitation. The bottom of the base in almost all floor lamps is wood chips inside of a plastic casing rather than cast iron. This particular lamp with a 10 inch diameter round base needs another 4 pounds of weight or they should have made the middle of the base hollow and distributed more of the weight along the round edge of the base. One trick that you can do is add more weight to the base. You can add cast iron to it, but it would have been better if the seller had done so. I would have paid $10 or $15 more for a cast iron base plate. You can add one, but that is another project. The light switch is at the top, like many lamps. The switch is a bit cheap. Overall the lamp is quite pretty. The side lamp shades are not rigid enough to face upwards. In the picture, they are angled down. I think the intention of them is to be reading lights. If you want one or both of them to face up, get some fancy ribbon and tie the side lamp to the main pole or add a metal hook. But I suspect most people are not looking for another project and just want to buy a quality lamp that looks elegant. I still consider this floor lamp to be a good buy. Most lamps that cost two to three times as much are not going to be better quality. ... show more

I had ordered one of these a while ago for our living room, and I liked it so much that when we were rearranging the living room and needed a second floor lamp, I ordered a second one. The packaging is good, so that the shades arrive intact. The base is nice and heavy, and the pole is wider than some cheaper pole lamps, so it can't be knocked over by a cat with the zoomies hitting it while launching her way off the sofa. The uplight is a nice soft glow, and the two downlights at slightly different heights are on bendable arms, so this can be adjusted to fit almost anyone's reading spot, getting light over your shoulder and directly onto your book, magazine, e-reader, etc. The switch has off, two downlights only, uplight only, and all three lights on, allowing you to tailor the amount of light to the mood and the company. Very pleased. EDITED TO ADD: It is now almost two years since we ordered the first one of these; it is still upright, cat-proof, and attractive. Last year we had a free energy audit which included getting free LED bulbs, so we changed out the compact flourescent bulbs we had originally put in, for the LED bulbs; we had absolutely no problems changing the bulbs. ... show more
