  • Great Heat Pump with Excellent Customer Support
In case you don’t have the patience to read through the entire review, here’s a brief summary first: this heat pump works very well. You shouldn’t expect it to reach the maximum performance advertised, since the actual effect depends heavily on environmental conditions. The customer service is excellent, communication and problem resolution require some patience, but the final outcome is very satisfying. Here’s my full experience: I purchased a 16,000 BTU heat pump around mid-June. It was delivered on schedule in about two weeks. However, after connecting it to my swimming pool according to the manual, it didn’t operate properly and showed an E3 error code. I first tried leaving a message on their website and also sent an email to the listed support address, but didn’t get a response. After waiting a few days, I called their customer service and successfully reported the issue. I have to say, their representatives were very polite and patient. The agent said they would forward the issue to their technical team and get back to me within one to two days. The next day, customer service called back with several troubleshooting steps to try, but the E3 error persisted, and the pump still didn’t heat. I called again, and the representative said they would follow up with the technical team. The following day, they called to inform me that they would send a replacement unit, and once I confirmed the new one worked properly, they would provide a prepaid shipping label for returning the defective unit. A few days later, the new unit arrived. After installation, everything worked perfectly — the heating performance was excellent. I then packed up the defective unit and returned it using the prepaid label they provided. The pump worked great for the next month. However, because of the colder weather here in WNY, the heating efficiency was lower than expected, but it is understandable. In addition, since we plan to upgrade to a larger pool next year (currently 600 gallons, increasing to 1,800 gallons), I felt that the 16,000 BTU model might not have enough power. After using the 16,000 BTU unit for about a month, I called customer service to ask if I could pay the price difference to upgrade to the 30,000 BTU model. After discussing it with their company, they readily agreed. I paid the difference and quickly received the new 30,000 BTU unit. When I discovered that the adapter didn’t fit, I called again, and they promptly sent the correct parts. After that, I simply returned the 16,000 BTU unit using the prepaid label they provided. Overall, my entire purchasing and using experience has been very positive. Additional information on the operation and performance of the heat pump: When the heat pump first starts heating, it seems that due to a warm-up phase, there isn’t an obvious increase in the pool temperature at the very beginning. However, the heating performance appears to improve as the unit continues running. In addition, using a pool cover can noticeably enhance heating efficiency. Depending on the pool size, it might actually work better to keep the pump running continuously rather than turning it on and off — and it may not necessarily consume more electricity. (I remember seeing somewhere that someone compared the power consumption of these two usage methods and found that keeping it running continuously might actually be more energy-efficient.) ... show more

  • Works well and great price
Pros Draws around 10 amps when running Very quiet Wfi app is good Works on 120 volts The heater works great . Raised my pool frpp 77 to 56 in a day and one half. 3500 gals and in north florida. the price is low for a pool heat pump Cons Tech suppoort is good they answer the phone right away but answers come from a third party and take a day or to for responce. This unit needs a strong wifi signal something below a -60dbm witch can be hard to get outside your home. The unit needs to have a external wifi antenna. I had to put an access point directly behind the outside wall where the unit was located. But my home is stucco with wire mess on all the outside walls. This unit will definetly impead your flow rate. Because the fittings are only 1" fittings on the thread size, and the fittings are not pipe thread you have to use the running thread fittings that come with the unit and have a oring to make the seal. I have a waterfall attached to my return line and I have to block one of the return jets to make the waterfall flow good enough since I installed the heater. Overal I still would recomend this unit. • Parts are not replaceable
First thing is make sure you have all the necessary materials to get to where you can plug in your unit. I made a careless mistake and needed to get another fitting for the heater and I literally just gave up. I tried to get another one reordered and it was not possible. So if you thinking of turning back don’t wait because I am still waiting for my refund after they received it July 2. ... show more

  • Don’t try to undersize for larger pool
Only for a 4000 gallon above ground pools. I have a 6000 gallon above ground pool & switched to 27,000btu & works fine! Amazon exchanged with no problem!

  • Happy with all but the oily film
So far so good. The install went well except the inlet hose has a drip I cannot stop and don't want to over tighten it. I don't like the water connections at all. I like that you chose Smart life for the WIFI connection. I like that app and use it for most things in my house. The only issue so far is that I connected it to the pump and pool and after turning it on it covered my pool water with an oily film. My pool was already full. I can't empty it and wash down the pool. I am trying chemicals but I do not like that it happened in the first place. I have not had time to see how the heating works. UPDATE: it has been 70 degrees outside and I had a water temp of 62 when I started heating. I set the temp to 90 but it has not gone above 80 degrees. How will it ever get to 100 or heat when it is colder outside. It seems expensive for something that appears to take a long time to hear up or even continuous operation. ... show more

  • Needs better instructions
First off I'm only giving it 4 stars because it has no real instructions and the app dosent work correctly. That being said the unit works great.it will not make it a hot tub bit it does take the chill off the water for sure. I have mine locked in at about 85°. It takes a few days to heat up and holdand you definitely want a thick full cover to keep the heat in over night or the system never gets a break. ... show more
