Our stylish Mirage X Motion Sensor trash can, in a brushed stainless steel finish with a fingerprint resistant coating, is a sanitary addition to your home. Offering the convenience of hands-free operation, this can fits flush against your wall or cabinet. Intelligent sensor opens when, and only when, you want it to. With the soft close feature the lid gently and quietly descends. A simple touch switch allows for manual operation. Removable polypropylene liner has built in bag fixer to keep you trash bag in place. Uses standard 13G kitchen trash bags - no special order bags needed. Requires 6 AA batteries, not included. Look: I know it's dumb to spend over $100 on a trash can, but you are clearly considering buying it. Otherwise, you wouldn't be reading this review. This is a judgement free zone. With that out of the way: I love this trash can. I love it so much, I went out of my way to buy it twice. I bought an older model of this exact trash can at Costco about 6 years ago (much more reasonably priced at about $50 at the time, good luck finding it at that price now). When it started to die, I bought a Simple Human sensor-trash can. I hated that trash can. So I gave it to a friend, and then spent too much money on a different EKO trash can (EKO Mirage-T 50 Liter), and I hated that it didn't have a full liner. So here I am, 3 trash cans purchased for a comical amount of money, and I can say I am very satisfied with my purchase. Here are the biggest differentiators for me: + I love that there is a full liner in the trash can. It makes it super easy to change the bag/deal with very heavy items. It is also easier to keep clean in case there are leaks/holes in the bag. + I love the sensor. It works perfectly for me. + I love the size of the lid opening; in this newer model, the opening and the actual size of the bag opening are almost identical (old model had a smaller bag opening than the lid.) + It's a great size and shape for my kitchen. + It takes regular batteries. I don't have to keep my trash can plugged in. I don't need to have a special charger than I have to keep around in my junk drawer. I don't have to worry about charging my trash can. I was hesitant to spend this much money for a garbage can. A couple of the reviews mentioned it kept the dogs out. We recently took in a foster dog & every chance see got I'd catch her in our garbage can. With this new garbage can she cannot open it with her nose so it works perfectly. The garbage can did have a few little dents but I just used a rubber mallet to make them less noticeable. I love the look, ease of use and the fact that it keeps our doggy 🐕 from diving head first into the garbage can. What more can you ask for & that fact alone makes it worth the price. Update: I was expecting that the batteries would not last long because we are constantly using the garbage can. To my surprise it's August 2024 and the garbage can is still going strong and we haven't had to put in new batteries yet. Just an added positive to this buying this garbage can. ... show more

I had an EKO trash can for 20 plus years. It worked perfectly and was great. I replaced it with this newer model that broke 6 months later. The lid malfunctioned and stopped working all together and the corner of the plastic liner/bin cracked off. I've been trying to get a replacement for a month now. I keep getting put off and they never follow up when they say they will. Guess I've lost out and will have to just buy a new cam - DIFFERENT BRAND. Their customer service is poor. If I had to guess I'd say the reps are outside the US. ... show more

well built, put batteries in it, install a bag, turn it on, go. Nice stainless look and finish. doors are sturdy, well designed. I am please 2 weeks in use and the electronics failed.. my family and I really like this self opening kitchen garbage can, it is also well made, so I submitted a return and selected to receive a replacement, same item. Amazing Amazon delivered a new unit the next day. I swapped out the opener portion and all is great again. Would still highly recommend this product and thank you Amazon for making the return/exchange a smooth efficient process. ... show more

EDIT: One year later, and I ended up deciding to order another one of these after my first mishap... I'm really pleased with this product. I've only had to change the batteries one time, I get a lot of complements on it, and it continues to work very well. Honestly, don't know what happened the first time. I guess I just got unlucky, can't get it out of my head though. If that had never happened, this would be a 5 star product! Previous review: I really wanted this product to work, and right when I unboxed it and set it up, it seemed like it was going to be amazing. I put in the batteries, set it all up, and the motion detection was awesome! I was very excited. Then I put the battery cover on and it immediately stopped working. No motion detection, no opening, no nothing. I opened the battery cover to discover that it had completely short circuited and melted all the plastic through the control unit in the lid. Very unpleasant and quite scary. Maybe I would try it again... but I'm nervous to do that now... seems like it could be a fire hazard. I made sure the batteries were all properly aligned with the correct polarity, so this was definitely just a defective unit. Amazon issued me a refund, going through support with the company seemed like it would be challenging. At least the refund came quickly! Too bad... I can't recommend trying this product. ... show more
