Review of Meter from husband who used for work: I work in the low voltage controls industry and finding a reliable meter is key to my efficiency. I used it for a few days out in the field and came to enjoy all of the features packed into this meter. There is way more features but the key things for me were: 1. Large numbers with a bright back light which makes it easy to use in mechanical rooms and above ceilings. 2. Selectable AC/DC allowing me to focus on the signal type I am looking for. Using this meter, I was able to measure everything from 3Ph 480 VAC down to 24 VAC. Then it was sensitive enough to also measure my communication voltage which is as low as 400mv DV. 3. The Non-Contact Voltage detection was a feature I didn’t expect to use as much as I am a check three times for voltage kind of guy before putting my hands in a panel but it was nice to use this as a double check as you just put the face of the meter near the wires and it beeped at you. 24V beeped slow and the higher the voltage the faster it beeped at you. 4. It also has continuity and resistance testing so it allowed me to use it to verify all of my sensors using one meter rather than carrying around a few different meters in my backpack. The only thing I would recommend adding to your order would be a zipper bag as it didn’t come with one but not a big deal as you can get a nice canvas zipper pouch for a few dollars. ... show more

Great multi-meter, especially for the price. I am using several Flukes at work and except for the somewhat nicer yellow plastic shell, they do not appear to offer any advantage for many times the cost. For the technically inclined: The internal resistance in the Volt range is 11.0 MΩ and 2.6 MΩ in the mV range. For resistance measurement it applies 500 mVDC, for continuity 1 VDC, for diode testing up to 3.3 VDC, and for caps 650 mVAC. The diode tester works for LEDs and shows the forward bias (it lit up the small LEDs I tried). The NCV feature is quite sensitive, so to tell which of two wires is hot you will have to pull them apart a couple of inches. For Hz measurement to kick in you need a few Volts of amplitude (like 7 Vrms), When I tried with a function generator (20 Vpp sine) it correctly showed from 1 to up 20 MHz, the most my function generator can do (my Fluke 87 V tops out at 1 MHz). This was in the Hz dial position, in the VAC position it read fine until about 70 kHz. The fuses are large (30 mm for 0.5 A, 37 mm for 10 A, see picture). The only caveat I found is that I cannot prevent the meter from going to sleep. ... show more

Bought for my cousin because his little multimeter was burned out recently. The multimeter needs a 9V battery to be installed before using. The process is straightforward but the plus and minus signs are a bit hard to read. I already took a photo to help identifying. I checked two resistors and a 18650 battery. One resistor was 27k ohm and the multimeter read 26.91k ohm; the other one was 100 ohm and read 99.7 ohm. And it showed 4.194V for the battery. All results are correct, so it seems work fine. In addition, the LCD screen is large enough and also has backlight available, so have no issues to read. This multimeter is visibly better than my cousin’s old one, and it has functions that the old one doesn’t has like auto-ranging, max/min, voltage alert, etc. Now he can continue his hobby, and, of course, he’s very happy with his new multimeter. ... show more

I looked at the several multimeters Amazon displayed and picked this. It is heavy and feels like a solid piece of equipment It's something of a fiddle getting the included batterty in placeAs a bonus it has a keyhole cutout in back and a fold out stand. The leads aren't impressive but heavy duty looking, I will replace the alligator clips with mini grabbers It will replace two el chepo meters So far accuracy has been fine for my hobbyist needs. My only caveat is plan on replacing the leads ... show more

I really needed a backlit display but this one only remains illuminated for 10 seconds which makes it almost useless for my use. No instructions came with it but common sense allows easy operation, If you want a simple DMM, this one very well could serve your purpose unless the backlit display is desired. I will not return it as it functions but will need to replace it very soon as I need a backlit display. 3 stars due to the display and lack of a users manual but aside from that it would be 5 stars. If anyone knows of a website for instructions, please let me know. ... show more

I will be returning this DVM. Based on the number of good reviews (?), I just may have gotten a bad unit but I can't use this thing. It looks good, has a lot of good features and is easy to operate. BUT compared with my old reliable Craftsman, it's not ready for prime time: 1. Backlight auto-turn off at 10 seconds is too short. Why even have auto shut-off? 2. Almost every action you take is accompanied by a beep. This gets annoying almost instantly. 3. Overly sensitive. Most of the measurements were so jittery, it could take 15-20 seconds to settle down and admit that a 1K resistor was actually 989 ohm, or that the current was 0.57 mA and not just somewhere between 1.50 mA and 0.20 mA. Very, very flaky. 4. The manual is in English but just barely. It is incomplete and badly translated to boot. 5. And yes, the leads are poor quality as noted elsewhere. ... show more
