Description

Its telescopic carbon fiber shaft extends for a total reach up to 13 feet (or 17 feet with EP1000 extension pole, sold separately) while maintaining best-in-class weight up to 30 percent lighter than other pole saws for tree trimming. Tool-free tensioning provides fast, precise chain tensioning so you can get back to work faster. This cordless pole saw makes up to 100 cuts on a single charge with the included 56V 2.5Ah ARC Lithium battery. Let me preface this with I have had electric chainsaws before, just not an EGO. I have slowly been replacing all my yard tools with Cordless EGOs, mainly because I can have the job done using the EGOs, before I even get out the extension cords for my older other brands. This is also my first extension chainsaw. I wanted it to keep branches off internet line, they go by or through trees. I also wanted this for quick 1 or 2 limb jobs, not do an entire tree service. Noise is 90% quieter than my electric chainsaw from another brand. Think like the sound of a drill. Once you stop pulling the trigger, it stops. My electric chain saw is much louder and still makes a lot of noise after the chain stops. It may feel a tad heavy, your not going to be whipping this around, but the carbon fiber shaft doesn't make you feel off balance. Easy to use. Very quick. You cut through branches faster than I expected (compared to my other electric chainsaw). I would say 2 seconds and I was through 1.5 inch branches. I felt I had just fully squeezed the trigger by the time I went through. So it has some cutting power. Battery is still compatible with my other EGOs. A 2.5 hr battery I charge up, I can normally trim, blow off the sidewalks several different days before recharging. I had one that charged up months ago, I use it every week when I mow. Still used it on this extension chainsaw without charging so it still has enough power. So now I just have an extra battery. I would also suggest buying the tools with the batteries. Tools without batteries are usually $30 cheaper, but buying a separate battery on its own, a 2.5 hr battery can run $140-200 ... show more

This a fantastic saw that cuts fast and clean even in 10" logs. It's expensive but worth it. I have used it regularly for a full season for limbing and log cutting and don't regret the purchase. The thin-kerf chain is super sharp and reduces friction in the cut. The carbon fiber pole option is expensive but the light weight is worth the price if you will be using the saw for more than a few minutes, or if you're old like me. The battery that comes with it is high amp-hours, so it holds a charge for a surprisingly long time. You need to watch the oil level in the reservoir periodically so it doesn't go below the min line. Noise level is very low. If you ever need a new chain make sure you order this one: EGO AC1000Q 10 Inch Pole Saw Chain PS1000, PSX2510 because other Ego saws uses a thicker chain that won't fit this model. ... show more

Been waiting to buy a dedicated pole saw with a carbon fiber shaft to deal with my wooded property in northern New England. while I liked the concept of interchangeable heads of the multi-tool version that Ego has had out for a while, I prefer dedicated tools optimized for each job. So I was happy when the 1001 came out, and even happier when I could grab the kit for $100 off during the last Black Friday sale. Put this to work right after I received it. Easily assembled, and I will just say that it works awesome. It cut through branches like butter, did not run out of oil, did not jam, the straight bar (vs angled bar of Dewalt and some others) worked just fine. There was plenty of weight on the branch as you are keeping the entire saw at an angle when you engage the branch. Rigidity of the carbon fiber was excellent. Battery life was adequate to good, the manageable weight of the carbon fiber shaft especially when used with the extension, was appreciated. I would have liked to have gotten a larger battery than a 2.5Ah the kit came with. Overall I am very happy with this product, it appears to be the new best-in-class for electric pole saws. I paid for this product with my own money and am receiving nothing in return for this review. ... show more

This pole saw made short work of some large oak branches. The fully extended reach requires two hands. The strap aids in control of the saw while in use. Battery life was great. Plenty of power. I highly recommend it.

This was easy to put together and gave me zero problems. It worked with my existing Ego batteries, which lasted through a several cuts without breaking a sweat. Seems durable enough and will update if that changes over time.

I own several other EGO 56v tools (lawn mowers) and absolutely love them for yard work. So naturally, I figured stepping up from Ryobi 40v to EGO 56v on a pole saw would be an upgrade in quality. Spoiler: it wasn’t. This pole saw is pure disappointment. Unboxing? Smooth. Assembly? Easy. Instructions? Clear. And, boy, did think it looks all snazzy looking there in the box. But within the first 20 minutes of use, while cutting nothing more intimidating than some bushy limbs, the bar-oil cap unscrewed itself, snapped, and broke off completely. So now I’ve got a $300 pole saw with no bar-oil cover. Brilliant engineering. This. Is. Crap. Who designed this... a three-year-old with a glue stick? There should have been a stronger locking mechanism on the bar oil cap. What really kills me is seeing all the glowing YouTube reviews. Either I got a lemon, or half the internet is on EGO’s payroll. Because calling this thing “durable” is like calling a paper straw “reusable.” Now, I do a lot of forestry work on weekends with professional Stihl chainsaws and Husqvarna brushcutters, so I’m not new to this game. I just wanted a quiet, battery-powered option for some quick limb cutting in my yard without firing up the gas saws. And yes, it cuts limbs. Technically. But the whole tool feels flimsy... even with its “carbon fiber shaft.” Lightweight? Sure. Lightweight materials, lightweight quality, lightweight design. The only heavy thing here is my disappointment. I’ll be reaching out to Ego support for a replacement bar-oil cap (or just drop another $23 to patch up a tool I shouldn’t have to fix brand new). But honestly, the damage is done. This isn’t a step forward from Ryobi — it’s a step into buyer’s remorse. Gimme a break, Ego. Do better! Gah! ... show more
