I bought this when it was at a 30% discount but I would of bought this at full price after using it. I bought this a week ago and I have to say, this is the tool of the year in my family. It cut plants and shrubs with ease but be warned, your shoulder are going to get a workout! I did not get a battery since I had a bigger battery from my ego lawn mower already, that may be a mistake since it makes the machine heavier and harder on the shoulders. If you can, get the smallest battery possible or maybe get the EGO backpack battery. In my case, my shoulders always gave out before the machine ever did. Luckily this took a manual shrub pruning job from a two hour event down to a 20 minute event. Its quick, strong, and not the loud. Overall, I love this machine. If you decide to get it, the best trick is to make smaller passes just shaving the bush down little by little. For bigger pieces, about 1" or bigger, use a saw or loopers as this machine will rip and tear bigger branches. Not a fault of the machine, you just need to use the right tool for the job. For the quality of job and ease of use, this machine has great value and should be an essential tool in your landscaping tool box.

I bought this hedge trimmer because my old one that was corded wasn't cutting cleanly anymore. I'd had it several years so it was time to upgrade. It was love at first use with this trimmer. For starters, I love the length of the blades. They are long enough to reach across the entire width of my boxwoods. I can start at one end of the shrubs, walk slowly to the other end and I have a nice, even border. It also cuts nicely from the bottom up to shave unruly leaves off for a manicured look. It was so easy to use that I used it next on a mature and overgrown burning bush. Burning bushes have some thick branches when they're well established and it cut them, well, not quite like butter, but it handled them really well. I was having so much fun and it was so easy to use this battery operated hedger that I trimmed all the shrubs on my property. It was fast, effortless, clean cuts, easy to maneuver, the right size for the job . I couldn't be happier.

Trimming my bushes became easier. Safety features prevents unintentional use and it was long enough to get the hard to get at spots for my bushes. Weight is manageable (I'm elderly) and noise levels are low enough to here the kids coming down the street. Since it takes the Ego batteries ( I have several Ego devices), I have no problem with power. And unit does not appear to use a lot of power. And I thing cordless is always the way to go, especially when climbing ladders. And also allows the unit to be maneuverable even with te length. And value for the money is always the best part.

this is a terrific hedge trimmer. I previously owned a gasoline powered trimmer but got tired of dealing with a carburetor issue whenever I needed it. That and the fact that it was heavy and with all the use that I gave to the trimmer, it wore you out by the time you were down cutting a significant number of ornamental grasses and hedges. This trimmer is incredibly light weight. And I do mean light weight. Compared to the gasoline powered trimmer, it feels like it is at least half the weight, if not even more than that. The carbon rail makes quite a difference. It has a surprising amount of power for a battery powered machine and easily cut everything I needed to cut including some hedge branches that were around 1/2" - 5/8" in diameter. If I am going to cut anything larger than that, I generally will use lopping shears or even a chain saw depending on their thickness but for most folks doing general pruning and trimming of ornamental grasses and hedges and shrubs, this thing is a winner! The only thing I could suggest as a minor drawback is that I believe the blade could be even sharper than it already is from the manufacturer. Out of the box it cuts just fine, but I like to keep my trimmers very, very sharp as they cut cleaner. The blade assembly is easy to sharpen however and there are instructions included with the trimmer as to how to do this. I went over mine with a small file and it is now definitely sharp. for the price, I believe this a good value and I am quite pleased with it!

Ego puts out another winner. I bought this because a landscape company wanted to charge me around the same price as this tool. I decided to go with the new tool instead. I find myself trimming my hedges and bushes more frequently because it's so easy to slap in a battery, trim for a few minutes and clean up. I especially like the ability to tilt the head of the unit. That makes trimming round bushes to much easier. I would definitely recommend this to anyone needing a hedge trimmer.

Despite the fact that EGO is incredibly overpriced. They get away with it because they have a product that is incredibly better than just about everybody else's. That's why I bought this. I have several of their other products and have been nothing but happy.

This was rated as the top model in its size/power source category by CONSUMERS REPORT so I bought it Only tested < 1/2 hour total/ but it performed flawlessly on approximately 16 3-4 ft bushes, species unknown. Weight distribution is good..not butt heavy which is expected. Overall weight very manageable, and I am in my 70's. Very strong motor, did not bind or stall for aforementioned bushes. I highly recommend as I previously owned 2 cycle and corded electric (UGH)
