Battery life is excellent. Cutting is as advertised. I used on a large old-growth lilac hedge after cutting out bigger limbs with a chainsaw. The weight is well distributed for control and lower fatigue. It cut cleanly and only had minor slowdowns with green growth nearing the upper cutting size limit. After cutting two 6x10 stacked trailer loads of branches, very little wear to the sharpness of the teeth. While not yet needing to do so, sharpening will be a straightforward activity. I re-oiled the bar and teeth as instructions rightly insist. While I did the cutting in two sessions and charged the battery between, it would have completed the two trailer loads using no more than half a charge. ... show more

I bought my EGO hedge trimmer because I needed one and because I have several other EGO products. This trimmer is awesome! I've used it a few times and it vastly exceeded my expectations. Out of the box it was ready to go; I only needed to charge the battery and oil the blade. It cuts through the toughest material like butter. It will cut a one inch branch easily. It makes short work of even the toughest jobs. With a cordless trimmer there's no cord to lug around or cut. I love that you have to use both hands to use the trimmer, so it's very safe to use. The battery lasted longer on a charge than the hour advertised. It's sturdy, safe and sharp. EGO products are a little expensive but worth every penny. ... show more

Trimming my bushes became easier. Safety features prevents unintentional use and it was long enough to get the hard to get at spots for my bushes. Weight is manageable (I'm elderly) and noise levels are low enough to here the kids coming down the street. Since it takes the Ego batteries ( I have several Ego devices), I have no problem with power. And unit does not appear to use a lot of power. And I thing cordless is always the way to go, especially when climbing ladders. And also allows the unit to be maneuverable even with te length.     • A Beast of a machine!
Style: 26" Tool Only - No Battery/Charger
I bought this when it was at a 30% discount but I would of bought this at full price after using it. I bought this a week ago and I have to say, this is the tool of the year in my family. It cut plants and shrubs with ease but be warned, your shoulder are going to get a workout! I did not get a battery since I had a bigger battery from my ego lawn mower already, that may be a mistake since it makes the machine heavier and harder on the shoulders. If you can, get the smallest battery possible or maybe get the EGO backpack battery. In my case, my shoulders always gave out before the machine ever did. Luckily this took a manual shrub pruning job from a two hour event down to a 20 minute event. Its quick, strong, and not the loud. Overall, I love this machine. If you decide to get it, the best trick is to make smaller passes just shaving the bush down little by little. For bigger pieces, about 1" or bigger, use a saw or loopers as this machine will rip and tear bigger branches. Not a fault of the machine, you just need to use the right tool for the job. First, the seller. They sold me a used unit. Obvious battery scratches. Debris in the oil and on the plastic. Like someone opened the box, tested it outdoors, maybe used it once, sent it back. The unit works fine, but Im paying for a new product and getting a used product. Im gonna complain to Amazon about this seller. So far, my experience with EGO products is good. The chainsaw I have is good. Well thought out. This trimmer has really good safety devices. And I like the 56v battery system. Id consider their Mower that uses this battery and maybe a power converter for power outages or picnics or beach parties to recharge electronics many times over. I haven’t used their products long so I don’t know their reliability. The battery does make it heavy but not horribly heavy for a medium sized person. I should think a metal loop and a shoulder harness could be devised and accessorized to aid in these types of hand held tools. Consumer Reports rated it highly which is why I gave it a shot. My thinking is: get a company battery and stick to those products. For small tools, I use DeWalt 20v. But for 56v region Ill stick with EGO until I have a reason not to. In hindsight, I should have bought this from Lowes or some other company than Amazon. For all I know, Amazon warehouses these and they are to blame. Still, paying new for a used item is a ahitty thing to do to a customer for online purchases so Ive been weening myself off Amazon to support Brick & Mortar businesses so they don’t go away. I could have easily returned this, but the time to re-box, drive, gas money, traffic, all for what, delays for a needed tool and lost time & money? So I sucked it up and kept it.
