  • Great mower, be mindful of delivery
Style: 30" Super Composite Deck (No Battery/Cha...
When it was FINALLY delivered, the box looked like it went through a war zone. UPS stood it up on its end and almost every corner was shredded and top of box was barely holding on. I get it, its a heavy box, but the carrier should take more care with an item, especially one that is $1500. I was worried of the condition of the mower because returning this would have been a nightmare with its size and weight. Fortunately, EGO packs their merchandise so well that the mower was in perfect condition with not a scratch on it. I guess that what's you get with Amazon, but their are the only retailer that ships free (every other retailer charges hundreds of dollars for freight delivery). Still, they should care more. This thing is beast. The extra power and blade speed made for much cleaner cuts than the 21 inch mower and the extra width did make for faster mowing. I never had to use the self-propelled on the 21 inch mower as it is very manageable without, but this thing is HEAVY, especially with 2 10AH batteries in it so you will need to self-propel. However, the speed settings are way better and you can really dial in the speed more finely. I use the slowest speed because I mulch, and it turned out to be the exact speed I normally mow at (unlike the 21 inch, which was a bit too fast even at slowest speed). The other thing that was immediately noticeable was that after mowing is complete, the mower deck stayed clean. My 21 inch mower always accumulated clippings behind the blades that caked on and are very difficult to clean out. The only clippings that got stuck in the 30 inch were the slot where the mulching plug sits, and its only a matter of pulling that out and blowing it with a blower. If you have a big lawn, or large sections where a ride-on won't fit through, then this mower is well worth it. And with the extra battery it runs way longer than the 21 inch, even with the self-propelled activated. Expensive, yes. But maintaining your property is your brief moments of Zen like it is for me, the performance is priceless. ... show more

  • Timesaver
Style: 30" Super Composite Deck (No Battery/Cha...
In the past, I've owned the EGO 2100SP and the 2150SP mowers (both 21 inches and both used for many years). Below I will mention the things that are different about this mower: - This mower is made of better materials and is noticeably heftier/heavier. Because this mower is heavier, I've noticed that the cut from this mower is always very consistent and even due to the constant heavy weight while I push it around. There is less variation in the grass cut height from this new mower. - This mower is about ~50% wider (30 vs 21 inch). From practical use, I noticed that I can finish my job in approximately half the time compared to the 21 inch mowers. It normally takes me almost an hour to mow my lawn with the 21 inch mower but for this one, it takes me about 1/2 hour give or take. I think it is because of a combination of the width, heft, and power. Because this mower is heavier and has 2 separate motor/blades, I find that I don't have to overlap my cutting very much (if at all) because the cut is already very even on the first pass. - The self propel on this mower is more "refined/smooth" compared to the 2150. I find this very useful since I can adjust the speed at finer increments to have more control on the cutting consistency. In addition with this new mower, I don't experience the annoying "self propel lock up" behavior from the 21 inch mowers especially when I need to abruptly pull the mower back (and forth) while working on a tricky area or around plants/trees. - On this new mower, you can adjust the front height separately from the back height. It also has numeric height labels unlike the 21 inch mowers. It seems to me the height options have more/better steps but I didn't compare them side by side with the 21 inch mowers. - This mower takes 2 batteries compared to the 21 inch mowers. I usually just put in 1 battery (10ah/12ah) in either of the 2 slots and it works just fine for my purposes. - This mower's handle does not "slide in/out" unlike the 21 inch mowers. I can only fold the handle out or fold it back in for storage. It does have adjustable height levels to match your preferred handle height when pushing it around. Because I cannot slide the handle in/out, this mower will require a bigger storage area (length-wise) to accommodate the total length on the mower when folded, compared to the 21 inch models. - This mower has multiple blade/motor speeds. This is very useful when you have different areas of grass denseness. I mow often so I find that the normal mode/speed is good enough for my purposes. Overall, the 2 main things that really stand out to me is I can cover more ground faster and that the cut is more consistent/even compared to the 21 inch mowers I have mentioned above. Given that the price difference is significant, only you can decide if the above features are worth upgrading or not. To me, they are absolutely worth it simply because I can be done faster and get a more consistent result, both of which are important to me. ... show more

Extremely Heavy. I am 58 years old and This was the first time that I ever got exhausted cutting grass. To heavy to maneuver. Even turning around to cut another row was very difficult.

  • Major upgrade over the 21” model - happy so far! Major upgrade over the 21” model - happy so far!
Style: 30" Super Composite Deck (No Battery/Cha...
2 months in, so far so good! I’ve had the 21” Ego for 8 years, desperately hoping for a wider deck electric version so I could continue staying gas-free with my yard equipment. This mower has cut my mowing time from 2 hours to 75 minutes. It is definitely more ungainly (bigger and heavier) to make turns with on a hill, if that is a mowing situation for you, but the efficiency gains are totally worth it for me. Really appreciate the larger bag for clippings too. ... show more

  • May be getting returned. May be getting returned.
Style: 30" Super Composite Deck (No Battery/Cha...
I am fairly certain this product did NOT get tested in the actual wild, so to speak. Yes, the mower is heavy-duty for sure. This is one of its many downfalls. The mower is very difficult to maneuver if not using the self-propel option. I do not use this option as it wastes the battery tremendously. By not using it, there is resistance in pushing the mower forward. Think of pushing something with a brake on. There is SIGNIFICANT resistance if trying to back the mower up. Like DOUBLE brakes. Not having pivoting front wheels is a MAJOR FAIL. Turning this mower is a burden. In order to turn, it needs to be lifted by pushing down on the handle to as to lift the front end. Same as other push-mowers, except there is a lot more weight and bulkiness that needs to be maneuvered this way. I didn’t realize how cumbersome it is to mow narrow—or tight spots. Cannot be done with this mower. Way more work needs to be done by a weed-eater or narrower mower. I am not seeing a benefit in time reduction here. Think of narrow walkways, sidewalk strips, around a mailbox or utility post. This mower is not nimble. The storage bag is also very bulky and considerably heavier when full given the larger size. The built in handle design is a fail to handle the capacity/size of this bag. I mainly purchased this mower to help my TTTF (tall fescue) lawn survive the brutal central North Carolina sun. I am mowing at 4.5” and this is the only mower that I have found that has a 5” HOC. Tall Fescue needs to be 4” .. I may try the 5” come July. The handle does not slide down as the other ego mowers, it only folds at full length. This mower takes up a considerable footprint compared to my older 21” Ego mower that this is supposed to replace. My robot mower only has a 3” HOC, and the newer robot mower can do 4” HOC. The price for the robot mower is double this Ego, so I went with this product for the additional 1” in height and price savings. If I can figure out how to convert the front wheels to caster/swivel wheels, perhaps I will keep this mower. At $1,600 with tax, this mower is way over priced. There is no battery nor charger included. There is no reason this mower should be more than $1000. ... show more

Very impressed with the build quality of this mower. Truly feels like a commercial machine. Heavy in all the right ways. Metal where you would want it. Sounds quieter than my prior 21 inch. But I have not cut my lawn yet with it due to the start of spring and a still dead lawn. 100% satisfied with this product. ... show more
