🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The shelter has been generally well-received by most customers, who consider it to be a good value for its price. It is particularly recommended for housing young chickens or just a couple of birds, with users pleased by how light and easy to move it is. However, users mentioned that it requires some extra work, including additional painting or staining for greater resilience against the weather, and the assembly can be tricky due to inaccurate cut of the wood and unclear instructions.

Pros

  • 🐔 Good value for money
  • 🌿 Ideal for younger chickens or a few birds
  • 📦 Light and easy to move
  • 🐥 Can be used as a transition coop into larger ones
  • 🛠 Can withstand modifications based on customer’s needs

Cons

  • ❗ Requires weather-proofing, such as painting or staining
  • 📘 Assembly can be difficult due to inaccurate cuts and unclear instructions
  • 💨 Wood can splinter easily
  • 🌲 Some parts may arrive broken, needing glue to repair
  • 🌋 Not recommended for more than 3-4 chickens or for use in cold climates

Should I Buy It?

Yes, the shelter is worth considering for those who only have a few chickens and are able to make additional modifications to improve durability. It offers a good value for money but buyers should expect some extra work for weather-proofing and during assembly. However, this may not be suitable for those residing in cold climates or planning to house more than 3 to 4 chickens.

  • Great little coop. Added paint. Awesome!
Great coop for what I needed it for: To house my crooked beak silkie and my new chicks. I painted it to protect it from the harsher weather and for the longevity of the coop. Need to add one more coat and sealer. I accidentally attached the wrong side (where the chicken door/ramp is) but it still works great as I keep that door open anyway. This Coop is not perfectly sturdy but will be great with reinforcement. I keep this mini coop in another enclosed fenced coop area so they can roam around safely. The inside is awesome and roomy. I like this coop for what I need it for and adding paint for protection is definitely worth it if you want to get more out of it. The price is great and I’m overall very satisfied with this purchase. It was easy to assemble. After I painted the pieces, I assembled in about an hour. Turned out cute! ... show more

  • Very lightweight, and be ready to reinforce weak spots
I bought it knowing how expensive materials are and how much my time is worth designing, cutting, and all of the other tasks required when building a nice looking chicken coop from scratch. For under $200 delivered to my door, I do think it is a good deal, so far. We will see how long it lasts. Thinking about painting or otherwise protecting the wood. I don't plan to move it much, but I am still planning to mount it atop a sled to slide it across the ground without shaking it up too much. THE WOOD IS VERY THIN. That is great to keep it light, but not so great at making it strong. Some simple reinforcements will go a long way to beef it up. The perches provided are small diameter wood rods that are not adequate for all but the smallest chickens. I am changing mine to a piece of 3/4" ×1.5" it before I put the roof on. The instructions are only drawings so take your time to see which way and where you are placing parts during assembly. ... show more

  • Serves its purpose & price = quality
I actually am happy with it BUT it did require a little extra work to get it together because it wasn’t cut exactly right. Especially the attached hutch. I had to hand saw pieces to get them to fit properly, which was hard since the wood is very light and splinters easily. There were pieces that arrived broken and required an extra day before assembly because I used wood glue to repair it. That being said, I like it because the lighter wood makes it very easy to move around. While I have chicks now the plan is to only keep about 2-3 yard chickens who will be moved around to destroy overgrowth. I also keep my birds in a sunroom during the winter (see pic) so this is very easy to move and clean regularly. I will be sealing it with outdoor paint before I even consider leaving it in the elements which I highly suggest if you plan to keep it outside since the wood is not treated. Make your decision as you see fit and know it’s a cheep chicken coop. That can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you are trying to achieve. I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who plans to have 4+ chickens over several years but if you cycle through chickens every 1-2 years it will definitely get the job done. We raise chickens for hybrid purposes so it’s perfect for us. Will probably buy another one in 2-3 years as we start the cycle over again. ... show more

  • Affordable coop for small chicken breeds
Purchase this chicken coop because we have seramas which are the world's smallest chicken. We also have big chickens and I know I needed to keep them separated so this was a perfect solution. Pros- it's pretty easy to put together even though some parts were not labeled. It mostly had pre-made holes and it seemed very sturdy. It will protect my chickens and give them (and myself) comfort knowing that they do not have to fight the big chickens. Cons- I wished it was a little bit wider and better directions wouldn't have hurt for the alignment of the pieces. ... show more

  • DO NOT WASTE MONEY I SPENT 100 each coop to replace parts!
I am giving this a one, only because I have to give it something. This is the most crappiest coop ever. The wood is so soft the wood arrived splintered and splitting. The roof was missing a chunk they’re is gaps all in the coop the wire was broken and had to repair it WITH MY OWN MONEY. Due to the wood splitting and not holding properly I had to go buy wood and wire and repair the coop being I had chickens arriving that night and they needed a place to go. I fixed it the best I could as little as I know on building. $200 latter it holds chickens. I purchased two of these at 150 each so I spent 500 all together in chicken coop! Customer service sucked they sent me a half the roof when I needed both and then the middle railing for the roof arrived broken again so I still have a gap at the top of my coop which is allowing water in the coop I had to go buy a tarp and put over the coop to prevent rain. The screws point in the coop and have already injured one of my chickens! They refunded me 70 of my 300 and then said if I wanted more refund I would have to take it apart and send it back in ORIGINAL box which is not possible being it’s gone bc I put coop together on trash day!!! So lucky me earning DONT BUY THIS CRAP ... show more

  • Fast cute easy small
I ordered this about 7 months ago. The directions were clear and it was easy to assemble. It has held up pretty decent. It was for baby chicks and started off in our living room. (Tons cuter than cardboard box!!) Easy to clean. Its now outside with an entrance into our checken run. Its too small to be the primary hen house for our 12 chicks but we knew that. Its a perfect cute starter hen house for babies or a couple of chickens. ... show more

  • Looks great but too small for more than 2 chickens.
The coop looks very nice, and it is fairly easy to assemble. I have four problems with the coop. First, looking at the picture in the ad, it is hard to tell is that it is too small for multiple chickens. Chicken beds are usually 12" wide. This coop only has 20" for the beds. True, chickens can share beds, but it will be crowded. Second, the run beneath the coop is too small for more than 3 birds. Third, the wood is flimsy, and fourth, the wire sides are attached on the inside of the exterior wall instead of the outside (this allows outside critters to push the wire in and get to the chickens). On the plus side, the instructions were easy to read, and the pieces were all predrilled. If you are going to only raise 2 chickens, this good looking coop will do; if you are going to raise more than 2 chickens, go with something much bigger and sturdier. ... show more
