  • The Best
I bought this to replace the same exact model that I had for 10 years. There have been some upgrades since then, but I find this product extremely reliable. It starts every time, which is the reason I bought the same model as a replacement. Just do as instructed and it will work like a charm. I've had a number of trimmers over the last 35 years, and I think this is the best bang for the buck. I like the manual loading. It is convenient and you don't have to mess around with winding and all that nonsense. I usually wind up using 4 of the pre-cut cords per use, but they are relatively cheap, and in my opinion, a lot better than having to hope that tapping will release more line properly. ... show more

  • Dependable
This is a good quality reliable weedeater. I've tried many weedeaters but this has them all beat while the others wind up in the trash. My son works for the city and this is the brand they use because of the performance and reliability. I would purchase again

  • Good tool overall
Started right up and cuts very well. Only 2 things that I would say as negative. First, it is shorter than my last one which causes me to have to lean over a bit to use. I’m only 6’ 2” so would think they would at least have a length adjuster. Second, I did not realize you have to cut 6-7 inch strips of line to load in the spool. I’m used to the ones where you wrap long strips in the spool and tap on ground to feed more line through. This model once your line gets too short you have to pull them out and reload it with 2 more cut pieces. It’s really easy and quick to do but just different. They give you some precut ones to use but they are cheap and don’t last too long. If you get quality line then it’s not as bad. Overall I do like this tool though. ... show more

  • On my second
I live in a very wooded and heavily-vegetated area with a river for a backyard in Washington state. They call it 'The Evergreen State' for a reason. This is my second Echo GT-225, because I loved the first so much. Weekly this hearty fella fires up with ease and heads into the vines, grasses, small shrubs, weeds and keeps them at bay. I asked too much of the first Echo GT-225...probably shouldn't have taken on that grove of huckleberry bushes. So #2 is here, fired up on pull three right out of the box, and this newer model seems to cut cleaner, quieter, and with more horsepower. I didn't read all the specs, just got the feels that this one is better, stronger, faster. ... show more

  • Starts quick, parts are cheap and plentiful and the trim line is easy to replace
Starts with two pulls every time. The first pull is made while the choke is engaged. The engine coughs but doesn't start. I move the slider off of the choke position and pull again to get it going. Replacement parts are cheap. Went ahead and bought a replacement carburetor and carburetor gasket to keep in the garage for when mine gets too gunked up to work. Changing the string involves holding the trimmer head and pulling out the two remaining small pieces of trimmer line. The replacement line is pre-cut and slips right into the holes on the trimmer head without any fight or tools. You're going again in less than a minute. A trimmer head that you bump might be a bit quicker, but they are also more complicated and difficult to load. If you do a lot of trimming in areas that eat up line, the "bump head" might be a good idea but for someone who does a couple yards every two weeks or so, the stock unit works just fine. ... show more

  • Great trimmer!
After using my last Echo for the past 6 years thought it was time to upgrade. This thing is soo lightweight and powerful its unreal. The curved shaft makes back pain from slunching over irrelevant. I don't like the swiveling of the handle, produces alot more arm pump in right arm as its doing most of the side to side motion. Echo carburetors are far superior to that of Stihl, and are always easy and fast to cold start. I felt like i stole such a great product at such a low price point. Speed feed is a must have $25 upgrade. ... show more

  • Short term trimmer
WAS great. After a full season of trimming it has died. I have had to tighten up almost every bolt on the unit and still wasn't enough. It was a great trimmer but if you want something that's a little bit more on the permanent side. Don't waste your money. There's videos of people replacing stuff on this unit to just to get by or last longer. ... show more

  • Best weedeater they make!
I've got an old Echo weedeater that's old as dirt but still runs. This one is just as durable even though it's mostly plastic. Starts easy, runs smooth, and uses hardly any gas. I definitely would recommend Echo to anyone wanting a product that lasts forever.
