The instructions were helpful. It didn't take long to have it running. Mostly put together already so that's awesome. This thing is quiet!!! Within 10 minutes I'm sweating up a storm. The foot holds are ok, you do have to wear shoes for the straps to work as they are made to. Overall, I'm impressed. Worth the cost and I'm glad I purchased it. I live in a climate where it's rainy most of the year and this will come in very handy. This was bought to replace a Kettler piston type rower that my wife did not like to use. We tried the $1000 rowers at health clubs and looked at the water based rowers, but didn't want to spend that much money. Plus, unless you rowed very quickly, it was hard to build up any resistance. The magnetic resistance is constant at all speeds, but it will not build muscle if you already do resistance exercises. But for someone who doesn't lift weights, it does offer enough resistance to tone your muscles and give you some upper body work. The track has a good sliding distance. My son is 6'3" and he can fully extend his legs. Pros: Easy to assemble and seems to be of good quality materials. Steady resistance with several adjustments. Comfortable seat and pedals, and it rolls smoothly. Cons: Web belt for the puller. But it seems to be sturdy, so not overly concerned. Very basic display, with no programs. But this was only a nice to have and we didn't want to spend an extra $100 for a fancier display. Overall, I think this is a very good rower for the money, as long as the expectations are realistic. This rower is perfect for someone starting out! The price point is great and it fits myself who is 6’3 or my wife who is 5’6 comfortably. Even after long sessions you don’t have any pain from sitting cause it has pretty good padding! Highly recommend!

When I purchased this rowing machine, I did a lot of research online as well as reading comments from other users. Based on price point and my needs, this rowing machine provides great value for somebody looking for a low to mid priced machine for an in-home exercise machine. The machine arrived on time, complete, and without flaws or damage. I found it reasonably easy to assemble, taking no more than 30 mins to unpack and put together. It is steady for an average adult male and for my kids. The magnetic resistance is smooth and quiet. The little onboard computer is fine. Honestly I don't pay much attention to it but it works exactly as described so I can see my pace, time, estimated calories used, etc. You can put your iPad on the little device tray and watch video or listen to music. The seat, foot straps, grips are okay. On a more expensive machine, I'm sure they would be nicer as well as having more functionality within the display, but everything is exactly as described and on par with the price point. The slide action of the seat is very smooth. The tension control has a pretty good range and contrary to a few other comments, the range is substantial. I searched for rowers for about a month before landing on this one after pouring through reviews of top rated rowers, both on Amazon and through individual sellers. I would have liked a fan rower, as thats what Ive used and liked at the gym, but thought I should stick with something a little less expensive to make sure I was really going to stick with rowing. The machine arrived promptly in one box, which my daughter helped me to carry into my house. I was able to pretty easily assemble it by myself within about 90 minutes. Im not very good at putting things together but this was simple and easy to follow.. there were no broken parts, and no mystery pieces after assembly, which felt like a win! It feels sturdy and very comprehensive. I hopped on and checked it out and like the feel. I tried all the different tensions, and then searched for workouts on youtube. I have been doing workouts with Dark Horse Rowing every day since i set it up and recommend finding a tutorial on proper form.. Im loving it! I feel like I can get a really great, low impact workout easily. I fell off on my cardio during the pandemic and am already feeling better after about a week of rowing! I cant imagine any issues with this rower, just from my experience so far, but I did get the inexpensive 2 year warranty just in case. If anything breaks I will update my review. ... show more
