I like everything about this kit and if you want to convert your bike to an electric bike then this is the way to go. Within about 4 hours after receiving the kit I converted my existing bike into an electric powered bike. Absolutely everything needed in the way of parts is included in the kit with exception of the battery. There are no instructions with the kit but that really wasn't a problem since there are plenty of videos on YouTube as well as on the Ebikeling website to guide you along the way. Quite honestly, it is simple enough that I could have installed it with no instructions at all. All of the wires are color coded with arrows on each end of each plug to align them correctly. The kit I installed was the 1200 Watt, 48 Volt 26 inch wheel. When I purchased the kit I mistakenly purchased the model 700c which is a larger wheel size than the 26" size I needed. I called Ebikeling and was able to reach a customer service representative who told me I could send the kit back and as long as I reordered the correct 26" kit they would provide me with a full refund, which they did. I used a 48 Volt 10.4 Amp Hour battery and the performance exceeded my expectations. The bike has a top speed of 32 mph and a range of about 25 miles with intermittent peddling using the pedal assist feature. The controller is programmable and also has a feature that allows you to go into cruise control at any speed currently traveling. When using the pedal assist feature the bike is almost effortless to pedal. Another plus is that I found the bike pretty easy to pedal without any motor assist at all. The motor has enough power to take you up pretty steep hills without any pedal assist. One more positive is that Ebikeling offers a number of replacement parts on Amazon that don't need to be shipped from China so you can get pretty quick delivery. I am very pleased with this purchase and recommend it to anyone wanting an electric bike. Lastly, you will need a crank removal tool to install the pedal assist sensor.

Converted a 1999 Cannondale M500 with this kit and a 54V 20Ah battery. After 1600 miles, here is my report. (1) The unit stopped working, and there is no response from Ebikeling. I have tried email and direct phone, but the "voicemail is full". This is disappointing, as the unit is still in the 3 month warranty period. If there is no response soon, I will return via Amazon and force a refund, which means everyone loses. (2) When working this is a very good unit. 1200W combined with the 54V battery is quite powerful. (3) The controller is OK, and flakes out sometimes, but it does have "Cruise Control" for those long stretches. This is AWESOME. (4) The outside diameter of the wheel rim is too large and does not meet the spec for a 26" tire. It is a real pain to get a new tire on and off. Special tools are needed and it takes about 45 minutes to change a tire. Investing in very good puncture-resistant tires is a must. Their answer to the rim be oversized was, not kidding, the tire was the wrong size. Really? (5) The controller miss calculates the rolling distance. For 26 x 1.75 tires which run exactly 205 cm in circumference, I had to reduce the controller to 23.7" diameter to match my Cateye and Waze. (6) Two spokes broke on the rear hub. Given this is a road bike only, that is quite unusual. I checked the torque on the remaining spokes and it ranged from finger tight (0) to way over tightened. Again their answer was irresponsible: My torque wrench was off. It's hard to say if other options are better or less prone to failure. I would not recommend you purchase from this company mostly on the horrendous service.

This is a great kit. I put 600 miles already on my bike and I loved it. It’s also really fast with a 52v battery I can easily reach 32mph with 0 effort. Just 2 things I can say that this company should improve. *The display got some water in after some rain so I have to put some tape around (see pic). Luckily I was able to dry it and nothing broke. *The T60 connector that connects the controller to the battery melted so I had to replace it. Maybe they can put a better quality one that can handle more heat. Everything else is great so far. No complains and overall I’m really happy with the performance of this kit.

Installing this is a bit challenging but it is well worth it if you need some assistance on your bike rides. The PROs are that it works as advertised, and the end product is fun and works well. The CONs are: you need to order a separate battery that is more expensive then the kit itself, the cables are longer then they need to be (cable management is an issue), the rubber grommets that came with kit were too thick for my handle bar(I ended up cutting it to half thick to fit) and I found out I needed some specialized tools that I did not have like a steel nut rivet installer and a crank puller. I think for some people it may just be better to bring it to a shop and have it done for you. It took me a couple of days working on it on and off. The bike is about twice as heavy now.

I bought this last year to convert my old 1998 Schwinn Mesa mountain bike into an e-bike. I stopped riding it years ago and was getting ready to send it to the dump when I came across this kit. I completely removed my old cassette, front sprockets and chain, so my setup is purely powered by the hub and battery. It easily goes 35 mph and I’ve gone on 25 mile rides with over 50% battery left. My only issue was one of my own doing in that the battery that I got was too big to fit inside the frame, so I had to mount it outside. Looks a bit like Frankenstein, but works like a champ.
