Stays in place and doesn't fall off several times a day as the original Garmin does. I use it with a Garmin Dezl OTR700 in my semi truck. Great product.

Color me impressed. If you're looking to replace a suction cup ball mount that longer sticks or loses its suction after a period of time, this is the replacement you need. The product description states it is crafted with premium sticky silicone gel, the upgraded suction base ensures a firm grip on most flat surfaces such as dashboards and windshields. If you've never experienced a suction cup made of sticky silicone gel, are you in for a treat. This technology does not rely on a sticky adhesive that leaves a residue after the item is removed. Instead the sticky material works at a microscopic level to create a multitude of negative pressure/vacuum points that when combined, forms an impressively strong bond. After attaching the ball mount to a mirror then allowing it to set for a few days, removal was amazingly difficult. The ball mount has a short lever that when rotated, causes the suction cup to form. To remove the mount, the lever is rotated back however the ball mount does not readily release from the surface it is attached to. Pulling on the provided tab attached to the gel pad also does not break the suction effect. I resorted to using an expired credit card as a prying device, working along the edge of the gel pad to wedge it in between the pad and glass surfaces. Then by wiggling it from side to side and back and forth, enough of the card became wedged between the surfaces then finally the adhesion released. And because the credit card was also a smooth surface, the gel pad attached itself to the plastic card. As I have previously mentioned, no adhesives are used -- so no clean-up or solvents are needed after the mount is removed. The instructions state that if the gel surface becomes dirty, simply wash it and allow it to air dry -- do not use a cloth to clean and dry it off. To simulate how the ball mount could perform on a vehicle's dashboard where its surface is not smooth, I used a plastic equipment storage box having a moderately stippled surface. After adding a water-filled jug of water and enclosing it inside the storage box, I attached the ball mount to the outside of the box. An old-style suction cup ball mount would not be able to adhere to the stipple surface. Amazingly, the sticky gel material stuck to it really well. The storage box containing the jug of water weighted nearly 20 lbs. Grabbing onto the ball mount (as if it was a handle stuck on the end of the storage box), the box and its contents were easily lifted off the ground. Shaking it lightly from side to side, the ball mount remained attached. (See photos showing (1) ball mount stuck on the stipple surface of the storage box, and (2) sticky gel pad after removal from storage box.) Two mounts come packaged in the product box. A simple set of illustrations (and not many words) show how to use the mounts. The ball size is a standard 17 mm, compatible with many GPS units and devices designed for use in vehicles. If you have shied away from using ball mounts intended for mounting on glass or dashes because you did not like having to deal with left-behind adhesive residue, this might be the answer you've been looking for.
