I've been playing this new EastRock Concert ukulele for about a week and love the warm tone and resonance of this instrument. It has really good sustain and simply sounds very full and darker than my other ukuleles--very pleasing! The craftsmanship is very nice! The Sapele wood is absolutely beautiful! The ukulele has a very classic look with white binding, closed geared tuners, bone nut and saddle and I'm not sure if the bridge and fingerboard are ebony or rosewood, but the quality is quite nice. There are side fret markers at frets 5, 7, 10, 12 & 15, and there is a strap button! The ukulele comes with everything you need to get started. You get a digital tuner that is very accurate, picks, a polishing cloth, really really nice strap, extra strings and a tie-string bag to keep all your accessories....and something I did not have, a little finger shaker or sand hammer, which is really fun to play with for some added percussion while you strum! They also ship the ukulele in a very nice padded gig bag with large pocket, padded handle and double shoulder straps! This bag is nicer than those of my higher end ukuleles. EastRock went all out! This ukulele CANNOT be beat for the money! EastRock also has an unheard of guarantee on their ukuleles with a 2 year money-back guarantee! I can’t imagine anyone retuning this beauty as it is such nice quality and has clear warm sound. For reference, I'm a harmonica player and I've been performing and recording with various bands for over 20 years, playing rock, blues, jazz, country and rockabilly. I recognize quality sound regardless of what instrument is played. I've been playing uke for about ten years and my ability on uke is not up to the professional level as with harmonica. I now have 10 ukes. I bought the Eastrock so as to have a soprano size with high G tuning as my others are low G. While the build quality and finish of the Eastrock are excellent, the tone also blows me away! This little axe has a wonderful sweet, warm tone across the range from low to high. With respect to the quality, unlike some of the others, the Eastrock comes with the fret edges filed smooth, which is unusual for low priced ukes. What speaks most about the value is the very nice PADDED case, considering that my acoustic electric Luna came with just a cheap, thing cloth bag that I won't call a case.

It's a pretty little mandolin with decent sound, and I tried out to pick up this afternoon. That also seems to work pretty well. I am a little perplexed as to where or how to change the battery, when it eventually runs out. Has anyone done that yet? There is no place to access the battery, other than maybe to unscrew the screws holding in the pick up? Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated.

My kid was about to take ukelele lessons so figured I'd purchase rather than rent. Tried out a cheap-o uke and it was nothing more than a toy. First fret either buzzed or didn't work (action was too high), felt cheap and went out of tune constantly. Picked up this Eastrock -- it was night and day. Solid construction an the tone just jumped from the li'l soprano. It wasn't in tune to start, but it was close -- which means they pre-stretched the strings. So, all in all, stays pretty well in tune, all things considered. I then picked up a concert version for myself from a different manufacturer based on a wirecutter recommendation. It was _fine_ but poor, lightweight construction and same out-of-tune problem, but the killer was that one of the tuning pegs kept slipping. Back to Eastrock and, boom... had the same experience as the soprano. In addition to the ukelele they provide a robust carrying case and a nice bag of tricks -- even an electronic tuner, which is amazingly handy. Highly recommend this manufacturer for your entry level Ukelele.
