This fire pit is next level. It burns clean, as long as you keep the fire within the pit (not to high above). The fire pit burns the wood to fine ash’s and is super simple to clean especially with the tool it came with. The only trick is if you don’t clean it each time it will work better if you scrape all the ashes to a corner then build your fire. We have had this fire pit for a few months and have done a couple of fires and we like it so far! While it is not completely smokeless, there is a lot less smoke than an open pit or the cheaper fire pit on wheels that we previously had. So far, there are no signs of rust and it is super easy to clean out the ash due to the removable bottom tray. Getting a fire started in it is super easy with some newspaper or shipping paper. Works as designed with a very hot fire with little smoke that goes straight up. Word of warning, the entire pan outside is as hot as coals, need to keep children away. It will also kill the grass underneath it.

I’d been researching solo stoves for a while, and thought they were very over priced……stumbling across this, knowing it had great reviews, I decided to try it out. We had our first fire last night. Everything went great, once you get kindling going, this thing really kicks into gear, putting out some impressive heat . The air flow design is cool to watch when you load it up with a few logs. Perfect for 4-6 people Also, the fact that this comes with a built in stand made it more valuable to me than the name brand solo stove. Very solid built, seems to be 100% stainless steel quality. Definitely would recommend, save some $$ , but this instead! ... show more

As all of these smokeless fire pits the flame and heat goes straight up and there's very little radiant heat from the sides while sitting. This is more of a fire to watch and not feel....unless standing next to it, then you'll feel extreme heat. I read a review that said east oak gives heat from the sides too....that's bull. Not happening. My guests were inching closer to the pit in hopes to get warmth and failed. There seems to be black smoke that smells like hot metal or fuel....I hope this dissipates. The fire is HOT, the coals are HOT but it goes up to the heavens and away from those wanting warmth. Made well, looks nice, delivered fast. It's good for ambiance on a warm summer eve....not for the cold days. UPDATE: I can't express how amazed I am with customer service. They really listen to the customer and want to deliver a quality product....and this they do very very well. The stove is made exceptionally well and exceeds the price point. I get a lot of compliments on the stoves quality and interesting shape. Issues with the black smoke seems to have gone. After communications with East Oak I learned heat from the sides will be diminished on windy days....and this is true. So, the heat does not always go up to the heavens. ;) ... show more

We bought this after experiencing the same model at a local restaurant. The heat output is great and there is no smoke once the fire gets going. Another big plus is that it doesn't radiate damaging heat underneath. We have a composite type deck and were worried that it might damage or discolor the decking underneath. After having the fire going for a few hours the decking under the firepit was cool to the touch, though we did use an East Oak 36 x 36 fire mat underneath to protect from pops and sparks when the fire just starts going. ... show more

The heat output of this little fire pit is unbelievable!!! I did have to really trim down the wood I brought, but for a 17" pit, you can't really expect to be burning whole redwoods. I ended up cutting some 3-4" dia limbs to 10" lengths, then splitting them with my camp hatchet and used a few strips of cedar as tender and we had a roaring little camp fire completely smoke free in under 15 min. A single arm-load of wood lasted us several hours. I waited until morning for it to cool to dispose of the ashes; I wasn't sure how well it would do after the first fire with soot and ash, but I was pleasantly surprised that a quick empty and wipe with a dry paper towel along the top was all that was required to clean it up for stowing. This, now, travels everywhere we go in our Class A. ... show more
