Description
TAMIYA presents the first F-14D Tomcat as a kit in 1:72 scale. This kit impresses with its numerous details and its easy building. The Tomcat was in use from the early 1970s to 2006. At first it served as fleet defense, in the 1990s its field of application was extended by attack missions due to its enormous range. Later in the same decade, the addition of the LANTIRN target capsule enabled long-range bombardments with laser-guided ammunition. The F-14D was the last variant to adopt the General Electric F110-GE-400 engines of its predecessor F-14B and received significantly improved avionics. From 1992 onwards, it was in use and served in the heavens over Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, the F-14D was finally taken out of service of the US Navy. The Tamiya model is 1:48 scale and includes numerous details.
