This is a very well made barndoor hardware kit. The bottom guide is junk though! Plastic? Purchase the roller guide that attaches to the wall on Amazon for $15 or so.

I had ordered one of these barn door tracks previously. The track was one piece and it worked well. I reordered another for another barn door. I was surprised to the track came in 2 pieces! This complicates the install significantly as it is nearly impossible to get both track sections perfectly level, and the door self opens and/or self closes. Very happy with the barn door in the kid's room. Ended up attaching the rails to a strip of 1x4x10 I cut down to 8ft using 5/16 Tee Nuts, and Carriage Bolt's. Mounted the wood using 7x Toggle Bolt Drywall Anchors to secure it to drywall. My wife fell in love with the blue colored door displayed in the product pictures, and we matched at local home improvement store. ... show more

I thought the directions were pretty good, yes there are a lot of sixteenth measurements but as long as the support bar is very level you are probably good. The supports didn't align to studs so I tore out some drywall and put backing 2x4s in place. I also used a 1x4 hardwood on top of the drywall but the support screws really should go into something solid if possible. I used double thick 3/4" plywood which worked great (with a faux finish) but was a pain to carry from the workshop. Biggest mistakes: The best way to secure the base is a groove in the bottom, I'm going to take it down and route it- wish I'd done that originally. You can make the width several inches wider than just 36"- the rollers hit a bumper that limits size but the door can extend as far as you want beyond the roller. I wish I'd gone with 40" rather than 38" for more overlap. ... show more
