This type of Dyson does not work well on ruggable rugs. The auction is too strong. It’s also louder than other dyson so have had in the past. It does have good pet hair removal though and I like the accedes it comes with for cleaning harder areas.

My 2010 DC25 brushes stopped brushing so I decided I needed a new vac. Surprise after I got new vac - my DC25 was still working after I cleaned brushes. However I'm glad because this new vac really sucks the dirt out of a red/white/black 4x6 throw rug and it didn't suck up the rug and I didn't have to go over it more than one time. Some complain about the weight. I'm an old skinny female and I have no problem with the weight. Of course I don't have to carry it long distances. I have had a Dyson vacuum for the past 16 years. It finally died and I purchased this model. I was surprised at how the quality of the product has decreased. The newer model is much flimsier than the old red ball. Suction is not as powerful.

This vacuum has been great so far. It’s my 2nd vacuum in my life and I’m 35! The first one I bought was from when I was in college. So this is an upgrade. I was specifically looking for a vacuum that just suctioned without the brush bar going for my jute rug. I love my jute rug but it is delicate and gets tons of traffic. My old vacuum just wasn’t getting the fuzzies off nicely and still leaving visible debris behind. But this vacuum has been great as I can turn on and off the brush bar as needed going from my rugs to my hardwood and tile. I really like how I can just dump the canister’s contents in the trash and not have to worry about bags and buying them. I can also see what a great job it does by the collection canister. There is a cheaper rug I have that it’s almost too powerful for, but it gets the job done and I get a little workout in. The cons are the hose aspect of it. I feel it’s always retracting on me. I actually made my vacuum completely fall over trying to wrangle with the hose! Thankfully I don’t need to use the feature much, but I was honestly about to return the whole vacuum because of this issue. I feel that if you spend that much on a vacuum, you need to love every aspect of it. ... show more

My daughter had one and I decided to pay the price and get one. She had told me it was worth the price and I was absolutely amazed at the power also the “dirt” in my rugs! I only have carpet in one room but do have some rugs and wanted it for my wood floors. Assembly was a tad hard to understand . I love it and recommend it. BTW - I had a Shark before this Dyson. After using Sharks for years I finally decided to give a Dyson a go when this one went on sale. So far I really like it. I’ve got three huskies so the hair in my house can get ridiculous and this has done a great job at sucking it up and not getting too tangled in the roller brush. My favorite feature is that you can turn the roller on and off which I like to use when switching from my hardwoods to rugs. The only thing I miss on my Shark that this doesn’t have are the lights. I never realized how much it helps until I started using a vacuum without them. ... show more
