  • Hot ASF!
Size: 200,000 BTUs
The media could not be loaded. 200k BTU is a Champ. My garage was 90 in 5 minutes. Ridiculously hot. Quiet on low, screaming on high.

  • Works very well
Size: 200,000 BTUs
Awesome way to heat my shed fast! Heats a 200 sf shed to 80 deg in 15 minutes in the middle of winter. Also use it in the garage with the door cracked without issues.

  • Does the job for my cold garage workshop
Size: 25,000 BTUs
Used once so far so good. Heated my one-car garage from 40F to 60F in about 15 minutes, while the 20lb tank sat outside in about 30F. I provided some ventilation as suggested, and I run a CO monitor in there anyway and it did not detect any. The unit is no louder than you would expect from its action, even on high. I preferred high because the flame was almost all blue compared with the mostly yellow of low - I think that may be a slightly cleaner burn. I think the main thing to consider, especially for first timers, is radiant vs. convection. I was replacing a failed tank-top radiant style, and I did very much like the "heat-from-a-distance" of radiant while I worked in my cold garage. With this unit you are basically heating the air in the garage with very hot propane fumes, and to a much lesser extent being a hot radiating object. In other words, with the basic tank-top style you can target the heat toward yourself and accomplish the purpose even if the ambient is not so warm. That also works well outside, just to get some radiating relief or warm your hands. I suppose one could simply buy both, and I might just do that but meanwhile I am very satisfied with this convection heater for my garage workshop. The quality seems good, and it will hopefully last for many winters. One small complaint is that the top circular piece has a fairly sharp edge. Handle it carefully when unpacking, setting up, or storing. At the present price of about $55 I think it is a very good value, and with Prime it was in my hands in two days, free shipping. ... show more

  • like we're having now
Size: 25,000 BTUs
I'm using the 25,000 BTU model with a 20 pound tank in my two car garage. Only one wall is insulated. The past few days, it's only been about 6 degrees for the high, so I've been running it on high. It keeps the garage at around 45-50 degrees. I'm using a fan to move the air, otherwise I end up with a very warm spot where the heater is, with the rest of the garage very cold. At full power, it's fairly loud, but not overpowering. I have the garage door closed, but there are air leaks between the panels and on the side of the door. I have a CO detector in the garage and it has not registered above 0 yet. I run the heater for a couple of hours at full blast, then turn it down below halfway to maintain the temperature. Our outdoor temperatures this time of year are typically in the high 20s or low 30s, so this unit is appropriate, I think. If we had single digit temps all winter, like we're having now, I would have opted for the next higher unit. This one came fully assembled, other than the hose, so setup was quick and easy. It started on the first try. Obviously the surfaces get very hot, so use care in where you place it and keep an eye on your kids and pets. ... show more

  • I also recommend a circulation fan at the higher point of your ...
Size: 200,000 BTUs
Update 2020, 5 years in, still working perfect, had to disassemble gas valve and clean a hand full of times because of slow starting but nothing else Firstly, this heater can be used with 20lb propane tanks. I got a Mr Heater 2 tank hook up kit here on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000K287CG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) that allows you to tee two 20lbs tanks together. Much easier to move than 100lb tanks and Tractor Supply refills the tanks for $2..79 a gallon. Secondly i can verify there is no issue with tanks icing over. I ran this heater at about 30%-50% for over 6 hours with those tanks outside of the building where is at +7F. There was some frost on the outside same as everything else, but nothing that caused any issues. Guessing by weight, i think i used about 1/3 of each 20lb propane tank by running it around 30% the mjaority of those 6 hours. I am heating a small garage, 14x31ft, but its an all steel Arrow shed, with no insulation, a ridge cap vent, and vents every 6 inches from the ridges of the roofing where the wall meets. At around 30%, it kept this uninsulated unsealed shed at 75, for 6 hours in +7F weather. I dont know what more you could asked for. One thing i did purchase was a Kiddie digital carbon monoxide detector (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00002N86A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) just to be safe. I did run the heater at 50% for 10 minutes or so when i had opened the door to clean with some solvents, and when i closed it i noted a 35ppm CO reading on it. I opend the door back up and it went to 0 in a few minutes. Never had the issue again. It is loud at 50% and above, but i mean it's going to be, 100,000 - 200,000btus is alot of heat coming out. I didint find it obnoxiously loud at all. I also recommend a circulation fan at the higher point of your worksplace to help keep the heat circlating. It allows you to run a much lower firing rate with more even heat. The heater took about 3 mintues to unbox and put together, 4 philips screws, one hose conenction, hold the pilot light button for about 5 seconds, i did it until a smelled gas to purge the lines, waited 2 minutes for the gas to clear a little, then held the button and pressed the ignitor. Pilot light lit - by pilot light we are talking a blue flame from a soldering torch, then you open the gas valve slowly to activate the burner. i highly recommend this heater, even less odor than the Dynaglow 23k btu K1 Kerosene heater i had been using. ... show more
