I’ve only used it once so far in about 55°F weather, but the heat this thing puts out is ridiculous, my garage was about 60°F and I turned it on high for about 70 seconds just over a minute, and the temperature went from 60-82 in that time, and my garage has a leaky roof and no barely to no insulation, granted this is rated for 3200 square feet and my garage is about 900 square feet but still, I’m excited to use it in winter, also I used home heating oil and there was barely any smell and the smell that did come out I didn’t mind at all, I don’t know the exact wattage, but it doesn’t use much power I was able to run this on. The same breaker is two 1500 W electric heaters no problem just to test how much energy it used, it’s definitely pretty big and heavy but it’s only wheels so it’s not bad to move around, putting it together wasn’t terrible. The instructions were a bit confusing, but I was able to figure it out in the end, it is loud, so beware of that, however, the high and low function is very useful. Put it on high to heat up quick keep it on low to save fuel, but keep it warm, all the buttons and dials work as intended the cover over the dials and electronics wasn’t perfectly centered so I had to take it off and resent it, but it wasn’t hard as it was just for Phillips screws, other than that, it was pretty good and no it does not come with a remote control. I’ve only use it three times for a few minutes so I don’t know how good it lasts or how the fuel usage is yet but I will update if anything happens and I will update on how fuel usage is etc. So far, I highly recommend it, worth the money! ... show more

I've been using this heater for a week now and it works very well. Item came well packaged and was very simple to assemble. Pros: I have a 600sqft garage and on the 95k setting I can raise the garage temp from 30 degrees to 70 in 8-10 minutes. It is very forgiving on the fuel consumption . Have used about 3 gallons of the 10 in a week. Cons: The thermostat only allows you to set it in 10 degree increments. Sometimes 60 is a little cool and 70 is a little hot but 65 is not an option. After area reaches thermostat set temp heater shuts off as designed. Typically temp will drop somewhere around 8-10 degrees before heater turns back on. Makes it difficult to "maintain" a fairly consistent temp in work area. This was the reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars. UPDATE:12-8-17. Somewhere I had posted a problem with this heater not wanting to reignite and heat when the thermostat would engage the heater to fire up. Apparently it takes a woman's this king to figure out the why. If you use this heater in a fairly "air tight" area such as a garage the oxygen level may be one to low that the heater won't reignite on its own with out cracking a door or window. As it tries to ignite it sprays raw diesel out the jet onto the floor and after two or three attempts displays an error code. Providing a little fresh air the heater fires up immediately. Excellent quality. Very satisfied with this heater. Been using it for a couple months now. I live in Texas so my winter is rather mild, but on those days it does dip into the 40's, 30's and even a few days in the 20's, this heater has been great. I used to have a propane heater and this one is by far 10 times better. thermostat works great. I get great gas mileage. I use diesel and the specs say it uses about 1 gallon per hour of use, but mine is somewhat better than that. The first week I used it for just under 9 hours of use (not counting the off time between thermostat cycles) and it only used 1/2 tank (5 gal) of diesel. I am told it wold get better mileage with kerosene, but I have not tried kerosene since that is harder to find down here. My shop is about 50'x30' and this heats it up pretty nice. when the temp outside is about 45, it takes about 15-20 minutes to heat the shop up to about 65. Update: Here we are 3 years later and the heater is still working like new-Perfect. I like this heater so much, I purchased another one. The 135K btu works great in my larger shop, but I needed one for my smaller shop (less than half the size of the larger). So I purchased the 50,000 but unit. Just as I was with the larger unit, I am not disappointed with the 50K. Works perfect and heats up the shop in about 30 minutes to the point that I can turn it off for a couple hours. This shop is about 12'x30'. If anything should change in the future I will return here to update this review. ... show more

It was actually cheaper buying it from Amazon than it would have been if I ordered it from Northern tools website. It has worked great, it's a little smelly on low, but on high it burns off all the stink, so I just leave it on the high setting. The thermostat is a great addition. It's smaller than my last heater that the tank rusted through in, but it heats my garage about as fast as the old one. To be fair, there's probably 50k-75k BTU difference between my old one and this one. ... show more

    • Great Heat Blaster But a Bit Loud

This thing blasts the heat immediately. It's not been that cold this winter but when the temp is in the low 20's, it heats up my un-insulated 2 car garage in about a minute or two to a temperature, warm enough to be comfortable in a t-shirt. The thermostat is a really nice feature to moderate the temp because if this thing was going non stop - even on the low setting - it would make the garage intolerably warm. 5 gallons of Kerosene lasts for hours and hours. Doesn't smell too bad for a kerosene burner. Only down side is it's very loud, even on the low setting. Loud enough to make a two car garage seem like I'm trying to have a conversation in a bar. Even with the loudness, I'd still buy it again if I had to do it over again since it heats up my garage so fast, assembled in 15 minutes and is so easy to use. ... show more

Easy to assemble, but longer than the 3 minutes stated in the instructions…which are poor. The long screws are for the wheel assembly and handles, the shorter (4) screws are for the cord wrap. Great heater that raised the temp from 40-50* in less than 10 min with the garage door open about 2 feet. Quiet for the BTU output, and using K1 kerosene, not much odor. ***Not mentioned, but get a CO detector if using indoors. *** ... show more

This is one of those products you can’t help but be happy with getting.. The 10” flat-free tires are great, not some cheap flimsy lawn mower junk, the HIGH/LOW 135,000/95,000 setting is great, conserving you fuel consumption considerably from 10-14 hrs, and the thermostat control, from 40-70 is an OUTSTANDING feature.. Heck, even the fuel gauge is another added benefit on the 10-gallon tank…. Then there’s the fact that you can run it on a variety of 7-different fuels is another unexpected BIG advantage!! Thanks to DYNA-GLO for building such an outstanding heater.. I’m sure that it will perform and last as well as it has been built….. ... show more

We had an old propane heater for our garage, this dyna-glo blows it out of the water. Set up is easy, moving takes seconds. Makes winter garage work comfortably warm. Noise level is low and unobtrusive, relatively small size allows for easy storage. Auto shut off works as it should. Diesel fuel is much easier to store / manage than propane tanks. ... show more
