  • NE Wisconsin 2.5 stall garage
I live in NE Wisconsin and have a 2.5 stall garage. Currently highs in the single digits and heater is doing great. My garage is insulated as well as the overhead door. The built in thermostat is garbage as many reviewers have stated. It is a cheap thermocouple type. The heater kicks on and off constantly. Personally I believe an external thermostat is required. I ran 6/2 awg wire off a 50 Amp 2 pole breaker. That is 2 hots and a ground. A neutral is not needed. I used a 6 awg SO cable from heater to the outlet with a 2 hot 1 ground plug. The external thermostat wiring diagram states 14 awg minimum wire size so that is what I ran. I posted amp clamp photos of the heater current as well as the thermostat. The external thermostat is low current so I believe any heat only 2 wire thermostat would work. I purchased the dyna-glo thermostat because I liked the look of it and it only costs $17. Wiring for the dyna-glo thermostat is line (red) to terminal 1 and 4 to terminal 2. The load (black) and 3 are wired together as shown on diagram. Overall I would say the heater as zero issues keeping up and is not running very often. I will see what monthly energy costs look like. Definitely would recommend this heater! ... show more

  • Great heater, Auto low high is annoying
Have had the heater for a couple months in Pacific north west in a garage that is 30 by 20. Has worked well to hear the garage and using it intensely while doing some painting for a couple weeks only saw about 20 dollar spike in electric bill. (Electricity is extremely cheap here). My only complaint is it does not let u choose between low and high settings. If temperature is within 10 degrees of desired temp it uses the low setting which takes awhile, don't understand why they would not use a lower threshold like 4 degrees or at least let u choose to put it manually in high. It's loud so really want it on higher setting for shorter time. Would also recommend buying external thermostat, it struggles with the internal especially when first heating the garage up, it will shut off, run cooling cycle and then almost immediately kick back in, I think the external thermostat would fix that ... show more

  • Great heater, quality product!
Purchased to set up in my 3 car garage. Installed it myself and got it up and running in one day. Great heater, warms up the garage from 45 degrees to mid 60s in no time. I've got mine hooked up to to Nest thermostat so I have no issues like other reviewers mention about not being able to go below 50 degrees. My Nest will kick it on at 40 degrees when necessary for safety if I don't have it set higher when working in garage. Hooking up to a Wi-Fi thermostat couldn't be easier, it's just two wires from the heater and you can pick up an external 24v power source for under $20. I can control it by voice or from my phone. It does not constantly run like other reviews mention. Once it gets up to heat it will turn on a couple of times an hour to keep the temp, and this is in cold Michigan weather with the temp in the teens. Once it reaches set temp the fan will run for a minute or two to cool it off then it will shut off. Would have no issue buying again. ... show more

  • Perfect for what I needed
I have this in a 420 sqft garage. I use it for a mancave mostly. I have no extra insulation not even the garage door is insulated. It gets in the high teens and 20s some winter nights here in South Carolina. This heater will warm my garage to 75 and as high as 82 degrees in 10 to 15 minutes. I am so impressed. The auto shut off feature sucks because it only shuts off for a minute then comes right back on. I turn it on manually for 10 minutes a couple of times and hour. I only use it when I'm hanging out in my garage so I don't see any significant changes in my electricity bill. ... show more

  • Not worth the money
Made my electrical bill double. I only had it in my garage for 5 weeks. Had to spend money on heavier wire and bigger amp breakers About burnt my garage down twice. Thermostat wasn't working properly. Very loud! No longer have got a different one. Waste of money!

  • Cycles on and off too often. Don't lose the remote-it's the only way to turn on.
Cycles on and off too often. And is loud for the size of it. The heat that it puts out isn't what you think it should be. Works by remote-make sure you don't misplace it. Advised you to Velcro it to a certain spot so you don't lose it.

We bought this heater for a big grocery store to install in front. The heater is perfect in size and heats the space, we thought that we will need 2 of them but one was completely fine, was able to heats the big space.
