  • Product Works as expected
Pattern Name: Printer Style: 550 Turbo
The only knock I have is that it only works with DYMO Branded label stock.

  • The Worst Electronic Product I Have Ever Used
Pattern Name: Printer Style: 550
Not potentially the worst. Not among the worst. Not probably the worst. THE WORST ELECTRONIC PRODUCT I HAVE EVER USED. I don't print all that many labels, but I have had to spend, conservatively, on average a half hour on the phone with Dymo each time I tried to print one. The software (Dymo Connect) is awful: It is utterly unintuitive (example: to get to an address already in the program, you first have to click on "add," and it goes downhill from there with multiple steps that are far from obvious). It is "buggy," in the exact words of one of the tech reps I had to contact to do something simple. Why doesn't Dymo fix it? Example: The program insists on super-imposing Dymo's mailing address on the ones I want to print, and there seems not to be a way to get the program not to do that. Does Dymo believe that we are pen pals? Etc etc etc. Finally, I tried to print a label a few days ago; the system simply would not work. I called Dymo tech support, again, to find out how to get it to work, and after a full hour --- yes, a full hour --- on the phone with the tech guy, who took over my computer with TeamViewer so that he could see what the problem was, he couldn't get it to work. I asked to speak with a supervisor; "he might get back to you in a few days." That was the final straw: I demanded a full refund for the label printer and for the Dymo labels that I purchased because the Dymo lable printer will not work with any non-Dymo lables, itself an infuriating condition. They now say that the refund will be approved, but I'll believe it when I see it. DO NOT BUY THIS LABEL PRINTER. And I would be deeply suspicious, frankly, of any Dymo product. BZ ... show more

  • Works fine on Windows 10; drivers are not (yet?) available for Linux
Pattern Name: Printer Style: 550
I bought this for my Linux computer because I knew the Dymo 450 had driver support, and just assumed this one would too. Unfortunately, Linux driver support isn't available yet for this model, so do be aware of that if you are looking to use this on Linux. It didn't advertise that it would be available for Linux, so no points away from the printer. I used it on my Windows 10 PC, and the software works great as well as the printer. While it's annoying that the labels have an RFID chip in them to prevent third party labels from being used, it's very clear in the listing that this is the case and all info in the listing appears to be accurate to my experience. ... show more

  • I recommend this product
Pattern Name: Printer Style: 5XL
I bought this printer, and unfortunately the printer had a problem that we could not solve. The support for this Dymo printer gave me another brand new printer. It works perfectly. I have 3 printers like this. I recommend it to everyone who needs a printer like this. Thank you very much for the support you gave me. Congratulations. ... show more

  • Not Mac Compatible despite advertisement.
Pattern Name: Printer Style: 550
I loved my DYMO 400 Turbo but when I upgraded my Mac to Catalina OS 10.15, the software no longer recognized my DYMO 400 Turbo. So I bought this one thinking it would be an upgrade. First, the DYMO 550 is NOT Mac compatible unless you have all your contacts in Google or Outlook. If you use Apple Contacts, the new DYMO software for 550 does not have the import button as it has for windows and it doesn't allow for import of CSV even if you paste the addresses in numbers and convert the address list to CSV. The MAC version doesn't recognize CSV or EXL Docs yet. Customer support says they expect to have it come next spring. I can't wait that long. Secondly as you can see from the previous reviews, if you have any old DYMO labels they do NOT work with the 550. The labels must have an RFID inside the center cardboard of the roll of labels. DYMO will replace your old labels with new ones if you want to wait on hold for over 35 minutes for customer service to respond. They will replace up to three brand new packages without a problem. You will have to send a picture of the old packages and labels. Customer service was very knowledgeable and show me a work around of copying the addresses one at a time from the old software version 8 and then switching to the new software to paste the address to print in the new software but you must have the labels with the RFID tags no exceptions. I don’t mind using dymo proprietary labels cause that is what I have always used. Sadly, my dymo labels do not have an RFID tag so I have almost 1,000 labels I can not use. Seems a bit of a waste. ... show more

  • Good variety of labels, but MUST use OEM materials with this version
Pattern Name: Printer Style: 550
I've had several Dymo label printers before and got this latest model recently. It works with my iMac and allows me to print out a number of different label sizes and styles. The software allowed me to open previous versions of labels to re-use or edit to new content. Be aware that these are heat sensitive labels so given location and environment the print will eventually deteriorate. The latest software relies on a lot of pictograms, and ends up being a bit of trial and error. It's not always the easiest to follow as I continue to adjust from the earlier versions. There is a new feature that senses what size labels you have currently loaded as well as an estimate of the labels remaining. Ah, but there's a catch. The label sensing software is apparently driven by a small chip that is in the core of the label roll. Attempting to use off-brand labels is thwarted by this to some degree. I find this quite by far the most frustrating thing about this device, and can only conclude that this is the most common reason for the high rate of return on this item. Generating labels in a multitude of formats is fairly easy with this printer. Using anyone other than Dymo's supplies is not. ... show more
