Read more Scale covered pipe Smoother, Brighter Skin and Hair One of the biggest complaints people have for hard water are the skin and hair issues that come with it. The minerals in hard water clog pores and dry out skin and hair, leaving you with itchy, dry skin and a flaky scalp. Soft water removes those minerals and improves your skin and hair significantly. Softer, smoother skin Improvements to acne Removes soap residue from skin and hair Smoother, silkier hair Why choose soft water? Hard water contains many minerals. Put simply, water hardness is the amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water. While these minerals are not harmful to us, they can cause many undesirable effects. They are damaging to pipes and appliances and can cause skin and hair issues for many people. For many people with hard water, it is a nuisance and soft water is the solution. Through the ion-exchange process, hardness molecules are removed from your water, in return giving you soft water. Soft water has many benefits. Soft water provides you with cleaner, clearer dishes. Soft water provides you with cleaner and brighter clothing, too. With soft water, appliances last longer and work more efficiently without clogged pipes. • Works well
Size: 80,000 Color: Black
First I'll note that picking out a water softener on my own was a laborious ordeal, and I made some mistakes along the way. The biggest mistake was my misunderstanding of how to test water hardness. I had bought a TDS meter thinking that would tell me the hardness of my water. That was a fairly significant mistake because in thinking that my water was harder than it really was caused me to oversize my water softener. Granted, we are a family of 7, soon to be 8 and our water consumption will be increasing over the next 10 years, but I still would have liked to size it better and not be oversized. Other than that, the main complaint I have is that it can be a bit tricky to understand how to program the meter. It is not really intuitive and it took me a little bit to figure out that when I was doing the settings, I wasn't exiting the "edit mode" and everything just kept getting reset. Once I finally pulled up the programming video on Youtube that made a difference, but I still feel like it isn't totally user friendly when programming. I feel like I need a cheat sheet stored down with the softener so I can more easily know what I have to do if I ever have to re-do the programming. In terms of installation, I paid a plumber to install this for me and everything went pretty smoothly. He was diligent to read the instructions provided and everything seems to be perfect. For me, the install was a little over $500, so make sure you plan for that cost. I had Culligan and Kinetico come give me estimates and bother were $3000+ (Softener + installation), and I ended up being less than 1/2 of that. Lastly, regarding shipping... The resin tank, salt tank and the extra resin all ship separately. I received all of these about a week apart and had to contact the seller to find out what happened to the rest of the order since Amazon only gave me one tracking number. Be aware that the resin tank comes pre-installed with some resin (presumably about 2 cu ft for the 80k grain model) and being that the shippers don't keep it upright there is some risk that the resin and gravel at the bottom of the resin tank can get mixed or shifted. This didn't affect mine, but I was warned by my plumber of that possible issue. My box for the resin tank was pretty dinged up too, but fortunately it didn't damage the tank itself. All-in-all this softener has worked well for me. I'm seeing hardness go from about 15 gpg to 1.5 gpg and haven't really noticed any drop in water pressure although I haven't measured it specifically. Something I didn't think about in getting a softener is that the taste of water changes when the hardness is replaced with sodium. It was more noticeable just after installation and has gotten better now that it has been in use a while and we're probably more accustomed to it. That being said, you may want to either get a RO system or even just bypass the softener for drinking water. ... show more

  • Great price, easy installation.
Size: 64,000 Color: Black
Just finished installing and it was a breeze. I can’t believe how much money I saved installing it myself. For anyone who is a newbie at these things like I was, I’ll write it what I did that wasn’t really easy to decipher in the instructions. My house was preplumbed and it had 1” pipes forming a loop in the garage. It also had a drain pipe right next to it. I purchased two 18” water heater pipes (1” connectors on each side) along with two Sharkbite male-to-female 1” adapters. I cut into the pipes, pushed on the connectors, and attached the 18” pipes to the inlet/outlet valves. Then I took a 1/2” inner diameter tube and secured it to the drain outlet. I placed it about two inches into the drain and secured it with a zip tie. The rest was easy to figure out with YouTube videos and the included instructions. Good luck! ... show more

  • Worked for 4 weeks. Still not working. 450ppm hardness level
Size: 64,000 Color: Black
This thing worked for about 4 weeks then it felt like it did before the install. I went thru all the settings and made sure it was where it was suppose to be for my hardness level. I also have 2 other pre filters added onto the system. It’s half full of salt all the time. I wouldn’t buy it again. Currently looking for a new one. Update. Jan 31st 2021. Just tested my hardness level and it’s still 450ppm. Unit runs through a 2 separate whole house filters and is full of salt pellets. Settings have been adjusted to what the video from them told me to. It just simply does not work. Emailed seller today. ... show more

  • Do not buy - broke in less than 2 years
Size: 64,000 Color: Black
I purchased this unit on August 19, 2019 for $631 plus the cost of a plumber to install the unit. It took a few weeks for shipping and installation so it has been in use less than 2 years. A few days ago we saw water on the ground by the unit and found that the back of the tank had a crack that was causing a leak . We called and were told that it would cost $418.59 for replacement parts. ($88.50 for a new tank, $245.00 for new resin, $85.00 for shipping) We were told that IF the manufacturer agreed that the tank was faulty we would be reimbursed the $85 for the tank. I also need to pay to have the plumber install the new parts. I purchased the product because it had a 10 year warranty. I believe the best way to determine if you are dealing with a quality product is how you are treated when there is a problem with the product. After using the unit less than 2 years I am going to have to pay more than the original price of the unit when I add in the cost for the plumber to install the new parts to fix the DEFECTIVE tank. I didn't do anything to cause the tank to crack. I am escalating my issue and will follow up with with the companies response. ... show more

  • Don't buy
Size: 64,000 Color: Black
It took about two months to get it I hooked it up and it didn't even last a month because they sent it prefilled and filled the tube with gravel so the first time it tried running through its cycle the gravel got stuck in the valve. It broke the valve and stripped the gears. And now they wont cover it. ... show more

  • Good value and appears to work well
Size: 64,000 Color: Black
Took a bit of planning to install this to replace my previous water softener, primarily because of the copper pipes needed to be cut and then connected to the new system. Didn't want to weld pipes or hire plumber unless necessary. Fortunately, I was able to find snap-on connectors for this to work. Multiple sellers selling similar products and some confusing and out-of-date instruction on the web. After installation, it took about 2 to 3 weeks to start to feel the slippery soft water, a little longer than I expected. For some reason, I do not have as much slippery feeling when washing hands with cold water in this system as my last one. Not sure if that's any indication of effectiveness. On the plus side, it appears to use less salt than my previous Sears model. ... show more
