Description

The DX1210 is a USB self-powered duplex card scanner which is fully TWAIN compliant and works with hundreds of other scanning applications, including all electronic healthcare and medical practice management systems which support TWAIN. It is used industry wide to scan medical insurance cards and laminated IDs. It can be used in simplex mode to scan a single side, or in duplex mode to scan both sides of a card in one pass. Quad Powered Rollers This heavy-duty scanner is specially designed for those challenging jobs other card scanners cannot handle. It uses not just 2, but 4 high-traction rollers in the card transport mechanism. Each of the 4 rollers are independently powered, allowing smooth feeding of even the thickest embossed plastic cards or laminated IDs commonly used in medical cards, and licenses. Scan-ID LITE The included Scan-ID LITE software is a powerful card management system which enables you to scan and manage medical cards and other IDs. The system scans and creates a searchable (and exportable) database of the scanned cards. Card information is MANUALLY keyed in. ScanToFile The included ScanToFile application allows you to scan cards and automatically save the images directly to PDF, JPEG, or TIFF files on your PC. Dual-Side Scanning Technology This unique scanning feature enables any application to scan and display both the front and back of a document easily using TWAIN. It would have been sent back had staff not been so reluctant to start using it. I gave the 1/1 deadline for use and found out: ☆It was difficult to install on the computer. ☆It is super slow to scan ☆The image quality is so poor I cannot read the information scanned, even when I zoom in. ☆It is utterly useless especially since it is so expensive. ... show more

    • Fantastic little scanner for Medical Office
We have four of these now. The front desk of this busy medical clinic is tasked with scanning the insurance card that will be used for each patient every time the patient is seen. These days cards change frequently for a variety of reasons and if we send a bill that is rejected because the wrong card was used then it takes added labor and months to recover. We scan hundreds of cards per day. It was necessary to read all the instructions and create a custom card size for the scan so that a slight slip of placement does not cut things off. All just common sense. Very nice scans. Best business card/insurance card/driver's license etc scanner and software I have ever seen. I have been in medical it since 1993 and IT in general since the days that a copy machine required a ladder to fix a paper jam. These are wonderful little scanners and we get great performance out of them. Reading the instructions is a must and being able to think about what to do to get the results you need is also important. I am sure that a novice off the street with anything except the most simple conforming task would be better off to ask a friend who has configured some scanner software in the past because it does require that you understand what you want to accomplish and the knowledge that configuration might be required. ... show more

This product works well, the picture is clear... We did have some small issues setting it up, but were able to figure it out. The downside is that it's not as small as you would think... It's like 6" long and bulky. I wish I would have paid attention to that prior to ordering.

    • Do not Buy. Useless for Windows xp professional
I couldn't load the software. After downloading from internet, the hardware doesn't recognize the program keep showing error code 28. Absolute NON-EXISTENT customer support. Email to customer support is probably lost in oblivion. DON'T WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS LIFE TIME.

...which should tell you what we think of these. They are work horses and scan lots of cards every day. The software can be set up easily to put the scan into whatever file you want, and set all the parameters the way it works for you. Highly recommend.
