My Solero manual awning (pull strap, ratcheting type) on my 2013 StarCraft camper ripped a little at the seams when i left it out in strong wind. After searching for a replacement, I chose this one. It may not be OEM quality, but it is close. For the price, it is great. I read another review stating that it was a little better than a harbor freight tarp. That is certainly not the case. Only using my camper 2 to 3 times a year, this is wholly adequate and much better than dealing with a ripped one. If I were an every weekend camper, I _might_ opt for the OEM version, though there is not much difference in my opinion. I could not find specific instructions for replacing the canopy on my type of awning, so this is what we did. Installation will certainly take two people, and can be achieved by fully extending awning as normal, letting it lock into place. Remove set screws on both roller bar side and camper side. Simultaneously push each arm back towards the camper to within a foot or so and securely tie both arms off (there will be resistance due to hydraulic arm). Obviously, the old canopy will hang down since it has not been rolled up on the roller bar. Slide old material out. Spray soapy water on the both edges of the new canopy and carefully slide the new canopy through the roller bar slot and camper side guide, working each end little by little (soapy water is your friend here). Have someone hold the new canopy out straight so that sliding it is easier and you don't tear it on guides. This step is cumbersome due to the weight of the material. Be patient, work slowly- speed will increase once several feet have started in. Then while holding them, untie the arms and slowly extend canopy arms back to extended position. Make sure new canopy is straight and in the right position. Hold strap, release lock, and rollup/extend the canopy several times. Then, put the set screws back in place.

This canopy fit perfectly and was fairly easy for my wife and I to install. There are lots of YouTube videos to show how it's done. It looks good and works well. My only complaint is the same as every one I've had: it will mildew if you keep it rolled in. Of course nothing lasts forever, but the white underside gets dark streaks when it's rolled in and rain wicks into it. We've taken to leaving it out when the camper is not being used to prevent this, but that's not an optimal solution. I'd love to find one that is treated somehow to prevent the mildew, but I'm not sure such a thing exists.

I have a 20’ manual Dometic awning on my 2009 Wildwood 21CKCE and the fabric rapidly deteriorated with a lot of use almost daily for years. We live in our RV so it’s always going in and out depending on the wind. We live in a really windy area in eastern WA and most days there’s wind. As soon as our old one started ripping at the base of the fabric on the roof area, birds saw an opportunity to remove the frayed pieces for their nests. Now, I love animals and much like my former awning fabric, I was torn. Do I let the cute yet annoying Dove continue building her home for her babies using my home? I had no choice. There’s hardly any trees here. Even less birds. Let her finish, then a few days later, wind picked up and the already ripped-then-repaired section toward the roll-y part decided to pull a Frozen and let it go. RIP. Pun intended. Anyway, good fabric. Holds up in wind. Took 3 people to install but it’s a big awning and we were doing it in our RV site. I got blue and underneath is white. I’m not sure it’s cooler with the color but it works and it matches my blue RV. The last one was various shades of green. Why? No idea. I didn’t put that on.
