  • Game Changer

I really like these. First time that we have owned the camper that I felt like I could leave the awning out. I have not experienced this with rain yet, but they provide great support. As mentioned in some of the reviews, the straps don't stay tight, but it only takes a little creativity to figure out how to tighten them. ... show more

  • Very poorly designed.
Style: Heavy Duty
Credit to Amazon for taking this "junk" back. Many flaws...in order of importance: ~ The "cradle" on the top that holds the awning drum has a socket for the pole-pin that is ridiculously flimsy. Instead of a 1/4" hole in a solid chunk of plastic, this thing has a flimsy "spiderweb" design that failed after 2 uses. ~ The tie-down strap is useless. The wind just spools the strap back out of the nonsense that is passed off as a clamp. Pointless...to the degree that a mild puff of wind pulled the strap, the awning lifted off the pole, and the pole hit my wife on the head! ~ The locking mechanism to set the length of the poles works well, but fundamentally it's a 1/4"x20 nut with a plastic knob just pushed onto it. In this case, the nut should be molded into the knob, but it's just a press fit. One knob fell off on the first use. Yes, I can put it back, but the lightweight plastic knob can blow away easily. I had to chase mine down...on day one! ~ After just two weekends, the padding in the cradle in which the awning drum rests was coming off. Visually, this thing is brilliant in its design, but the execution is dreadful. And given that a VERY expensive awning is depending on this thing to reinforce it in modest wind, this poor execution is more of a hazard than a help. Add insult to injury with the price of this thing, and I'm a VERY unhappy camper. Carefree should be ashamed of putting such a ridiculous contraption on the market. ... show more

  • Perfect solution for my Lance trailer
Style: Heavy Duty
The support arms for the awning on my Lance trailer essentially have no vertical stabilizers. Great that you don't run into the supports but bad if there is almost any wind at all. These awning poles are a perfect solution and totally solved the problem. I love them.

  • They actually extend to 9 feet, straps don’t hold
Style: Heavy Duty
They extended beyond 8 feet which I needed. The straps however did not hold tight. The slip in the rings even when done per their instructions. I had to go buy better straps with a positive locking mechanism. Pricey for what you get in my opinion.

  • Looks well made!
Style: Heavy Duty
After receiving the wrong item at first and finally getting the proper extension legs as ordered the look well made and the feet to stake it down are actually metal along with top post for the mounting piece! There was a small piece broken out of the package but I don’t see it being a problem. Gage it 4 stars only because I haven’t got to use them yet and see how well they actually work. ... show more

  • Just the piece of mind needed
Style: Heavy Duty
I installed mine on the deck of my camper, it was an easy install and with the straps and the poles, I don’t worry about the pop up downpours &/or wind buckling or ripping my awning. Worth the investment.

  • Almost complete product fail
Style: Heavy Duty
We have a fifth wheel trailer with the Traveler 20’ awning and just recently replaced the support arms due to wind damage that snapped one of the arms off. We’ve been using the awning for over a year, across the country with few issues. Currently in Florida during storm season and looking for something more robust. Rolling the awning in every time a storm comes through isn’t practical. A pair of ratchet straps on the awning was enough to protect the awning from flying upwards. Needed something to take the downward load. That’s where I hoped the poles would work. First problem was they were too short. The only way I could get them to reach was to lower the pitch all the way down. If these did not have the adjustable pitch, the poles wouldn’t even come close. Second problem was the pole height adjustment would not support the awning, even in light winds. It took very little pressure to lower the pole where it was no longer supporting the awning. This brings me to the third issue. The top of the poles has a post used to affix the support saddle that contacted the awning tube. There is no way of securing this connection. No set screw, no threads, no coupling. Just a smooth post. Effectively the saddle just sits on top of the post. In a situation where you expect some movement (like the wind) and in particular when the pole itself is prone to shortening itself, this means you pole will just fall to the ground if you have more than 2” of movement. About the only positive thing I have to say about it is that the material seems like the right choice. Aluminum won’t rust and can be left outside as intended. The only possibility where this product might work is if you have a much shorter setup where the awning height is about 5’ off the ground. Disappointing product from the manufacturer of the awning. I can’t recommend this product in the least. ... show more

  • Made all the difference in the world!
Style: Heavy Duty
Typically, with the awning fully extended, when the wind picks up the awning structure shakes, rattles and rolls. I use to just tie it down with a strap but all of the stress is still on the structure of the awning. With these installed the is tightly secured to the ground with no stress on the awning structure. Great product. ... show more
