  • More than just a bath chair.
Style: Whisper
This is a great bath chair. Easy to assemble and fits my mom's narrow tub. She loves it! Plus, when she fell in her living room it was surprisingly useful. Her daughter can't lift her by herself so she got the bath chair and was able to slide it under her mom. The chair was powerful enough to help lift her slowly from the floor. She was then able to get her mom back into her own chair. This bath chair is a life saver. An it never missed a beat. Thank God we purchased this bath chair. I just want to say Thank you to the company that makes this chair. It's expensive, but well worth the money. I will definitely be recommending this bath chair to everyone. ... show more

Works good, not too heavy

  • So much better than a walk-in tub
Style: Whisper
This is a marvelous product. I’ve been using it for over a year to help my elderly mother take a bath. I no longer have to worry about her falling as she gets into or out of a bathtub. My mother has the early stages of dementia and so she doesn’t do real well following instructions. The control unit is so basic and easy to understand That she can easily lower herself into the tub and raise it again when it’s time to get out. It comes apart easily and it’s not very heavy so I would hesitate to call it robust. But I weigh 250 pounds and I tested it thoroughly before I ever let my mother use it. Before purchasing, I watched videos of bath chairs like this where people were taking the chair into another room where someone had fallen. That’s the feature that really sold me on it. I’m getting to an age where I don’t know that I could help my mother out of the floor. With this chair I definitely could. ... show more

  • Hard to assess before purchase, good in use.
Buying this has been a disappointing experience. I have just put it into our tub. I struggled to figure out dimensions and how it would fit with our Jacuzzi jets. A question about modifying it on Amazon got an answer was a liability lawyer "Don't do it." not whether it was feasible, from the manufacturer. I wanted to look at one, but no shop I could find in either Boise, ID, Idaho Falls, ID, or Jackson WY had one or seemed ever to have sold one. Given astronomical list prices, I didn't want to impose on them, so I told them they would have to compete with Amazon on price. Design. There is a structure at the back of the base that keeps the seat base about 6 inches from the back of the tub. The base is 22 inches from front to back [The mysterious 22 inches listed as seat length] so the front of the seat is 20 inches from the front of the tub bottom. I should have bought the Aquajoy line. The rigid-back one, which wouldn't work for us, has more legroom; hard to tell about the reclining back model. Drive doesn't have a picture that shows that one down in the tub. Drive Medical could do a better job for people who may be limited in their capabilities or may be caregivers without a lot of time to go beyond what Drive gives them to find out what they need to know. They can't even list the phone numbers of their "dealers". This is a potentially very useful product for a small but needing group of customers. Drive should bet their marketing act together, although poor design and marketing seems to be endemic in the health care product business, except for the deep-pocket-targeted scooter business for example. In use, it is great for one who hates showers and likes to soak in a Jacuzzi. She was able get in even though the wings don't rest on the tub edge, to slide down off the sea when it's down, which is not too high and immerse herself. The front is tapered enough to make that OK, although a firm apron there would make that easier. This compensates for the length the chair takes up in the tub. ... show more

  • Very Helpful
Style: Bellavita Dive
For those with mobility issues, the chair's function can provide assistance when getting a bath. It provides assistance in entering and exiting a bathtub without having to climb over the tub's side and sitting in the tub from a standing position. The chair can be positioned so that the attached wings are level with the sides of the tub permitting someone to sit on one wing and then slide over to the seat, and then lowering into the bathwater by use of the handheld controller. When the bath is complete, the chair lifts the person to the height of the tub's sides and then the person can exit the tub by sliding from the chair's seat onto a wing and then standing on the floor. Something to keep in mind is where the bathtub is situated in proximity to fixtures in the bathroom. If it is very close to a fixture, a person might have difficulty sitting on the wing of the chair and getting his/her legs over the side of the tub when sliding on/off the chair's seat. (The chair is positioned in about the center of the tub.) The chair is somewhat weighty, but that helps provide stability along with the suction cup feet. The controller is rechargeable and easy to use. The chair is a good item to have when mobility issues make getting a bath difficult, providing a solution. ... show more

  • Fantastic solution to tub access problems!
Style: Whisper
I took my first bath in 13 years thanks to this wonderful bath chair!!! I had read many of the reviews and honestly was a bit concerned about the install. It went great. Everytime my husband and I started feeling overwhemed it was just because we were overthinking it. When we looked at what we were doing and simplified, it went great. I have a Jaccuzzi garden tub. It's wide and not too terribly long, so I never would have been able to stretch out. It is also fiberglass with a slight texture and we had absolutely no problems! As you're going down you feel like you're moving forward, but once you get down all the way you can adjust the back angle and have more room. I love it!! It was smooth and comfortable and the price was fantastic compared to the alternatives! The walk-in tub was quoted to us at $20,000, yikes! Impossible. This chair is also featured in many catalogs for $799. You can not adjust your position at all in the walk-in tubs. You may be more submerged, but I don't know if that justifies the price...I am thrilled with this purchase!! ... show more
