First off, this is not an Undercover Swing Box. If that’s what you’re wanting, then spend the extra $$ and get one. That being said, I am quite satisfied with what I got for what I paid. I bought this to keep my tow rope, hitches and ratchet straps in, and it fits the bill perfectly. It allows me to get those items out from under my back seat (freeing up more space) and closer to where I use them, while still keeping them out of the weather. Installation is simple and straightforward, taking less than 30 minutes start to finish. Directions were easy to follow, with good pictures. Everything functions easily, and the weight of 2 hitches, jumper cables, tow strap and multiple different size ratchet straps (all of which fit easily with some room to spare) doesn’t affect the swing at all. Overall, I am very pleased with this swing box so far. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is not made in America.

I was so excited for this. But that slowly went away after discovering a flaw in the design. This doesn’t lock into place unless the padlock was on. Meaning without it anyone could simply lift it off and take it with them. Major flaw. You would need to unlock the padlock just to swing it out. Who would want to do that every time. I designed a peace that holds into the hinge and the truck to prevent the need for the padlock and it’s not impossible to remove without a secure nut. Dumb design good effort but I’m sure there are other with a better design.

Things lined up with holes in the truck, but the fastenings included were useless. There were bolts for fastening the hinge frame, but nothing in the package or on the truck to screw those bolts into. Even if there were, one of the fastenings points was way too deep for an included bolt to reach. I dug through my stuff and found 1/4" bolts with nuts and washers that worked. Next, you are instructed to remove the 4 bolts from a fitting on the side of the truck and use those bolts to attach the latch frame. There were 4 untapped holes in the right place, but no fittings or bolts. I again dug through my stuff to get 4 -1/4" x 1 bolts. I then had to tap the holes in the side of the pickup bed. They were the right diameter to tap 1/4x 20. I managed to tap 3 of the holes before breaking my tap on the 4th. 3 holes were enough, so I attached the latch frame. To fasten the bolts, I had to widen the hole in the bed liner somewhat with a multi tool. Then the latch had to be attached to the latch frame. There were 2 bolts with nuts that might have worked, the only fastenings in the kit that were useful, but since I had some better bolts handy, I used those. This would have been a 20 minute job if the truck layout has been as assumed by the instructions and the right fasteners had been included. The only positive was that the holes in the truck were in the right places. Plan on providing your own nuts and bolts and having the tools handy to do the extra work.
