- Easy to Install To install, simply measure up from the base of the door jamb on one side, to desired height ( We suggest just above the deadbolt), mark and pre-Drill the pilot holes (with provided drill bit), then Install the Screws. Repeat on the other side. If there is a slight rub, when the door meets the bracket, you can usually avoid shaving off (mortise) wood to recess the bracket by lightly hammering an impression in the edge of the door, until the rub is gone. Cover the door with a rag where hammering, to avoid scaring the finish. Now Your Door is Secure!

I am really impressed by how heavy and sturdy these components are - better than expected! And I was pleasantly surprised to see that all the criticisms from reviewers have been addressed by the manufacturer with this latest model. I.E., All edges/corners are smooth (not sharp) and require no file work, the 2 center holes are now further back from the hinge for a better bite into studs behind the door jam, the stainless steel screws are high quality and didn't give even a hint of stripping or shearing, the keeper on each hinge rotates easily and effectively solves the issue of intruders slipping something between jam & door and raising the bar out of the holders. I needed to mortise the jams because there wasn't enough room between the door and jam to fit the hinges. But don't be scared off by that task. With patience and a sharp woodworker's chisel, it's an easy process and took me about 30 minutes total. I also decided to drill the screw holes with a 9/64 bit instead of the recommended 1/8 bit to make installation slightly easier (with less risk of anything getting stripped). Don't worry, the screws still have plenty of bite into the studs and they are super tight. Also, it helps to put a dab of vaseline or something similar on the screw threads before installing. Overall, installation was easy and enjoyable. And we now feel so much more secure than before knowing that the out of sight garage entry door has been beefed up substantially with the Doorricade hardware. There are tons of cheaper devices on the market but "you get what you pay for". I'm glad I made the decision to spend the extra money on this device.

This product is effective. It saved my life one night and possibly the intruders as I was laying in bed with a shotgun pointed at the door on the phone with 911 while he attempted to push my cabin door open. The would be intruder would take a running start and push my door, he defeated the door handle, but the Dooricade didn't budge. After failing to open the door more than the fraction of an inch due to the Dooricade stopping him in his tracks, on maybe his 15th attempt to smash open the door he focused his force to the hinge side of my door. He then tried to lift up on the dooricade to remove it but the bracket stopped him. I was telling the dispatcher calmly how effective this security device is. This Dooricade was easy and quick to install. Drill small pilot holes before using the screw driver bit to install brackets. I had the cabin picked up because it wasn't safe out there but kept the dooricade bar. I left the hinged behind, so, I email Dooricade asking for hinges. Then, the Owner of the Company calls me. Sends me 2 new units at no cost. I could tell this company values the safety of everyone and did alot of testing during research and testing this, it's well thought out and designed. They have good energy and blessings and thanks from me. Can easily be cut down to size for odd set ups like this one in a barn.

First things first, this is well built! I am a woodworker and mess around with metal too. This is a well built product. I examined the hinges and the bar, all are built to a high standard. The bar is solid metal as advertised and the hinges are NOT some cheap junk from China. I like the little clips on the hinge that cover the bar when it is in place. This should keep the bar from popping out if someone starts kicking the door. Easy to install, I took it s step further and used my trim router to pull some of the material off of the door casing for a tighter hinge fit. Otherwise I followed the directions and had it installed in less than 30 minutes. Make sure to follow the directions and run a pilot hole for the 3" screws that come with the kit. I haven't tested the Dooricade out by kicking anything, but it feels really solid. My 11 year old can use it, so it is easy to put into and take out of action. I am going to order a few more. Now if someone comes rattling the door knob at night I will feel much safer.

Great security bar! Make sure you have enough space between the door and the frame for the two brackets that will be surface-mounted on the frame. And there is enough room for the hinges if there is molding. I had to chisel out part of my molding for the hinges. I would have given this product 5 stars if the plate's front screw holes were farther back from hinges, like is shown in the instructions. See photos. The screws in these holes barely made contact with the wood structure behind the surface frame. When you drill the holes for the 3-inch screws, I highly recommend the drill bit can also drill a 3-inch hole. Also, I got a 38' bar set for a 32" door; the extra length was needed due to the molding.

I ordered this as I wanted to add more security to my back porch door (see photo - but please pardon my taped up trash bag curtain. I just put that there until I get some frosted vinyl for the windows). I had used the metal brackets/wooden two by four approach on my basement door and wanted to try the Dooricade for this door. When I ordered it, I had read reviews and knew it would work well but the size and slenderness of the bar made me think in the back of my head, “is that thick enough to stand up to kicks and the like?”. Once it arrived and I took it out of the package and held the bar, I knew it would stand up to anything. It was very easy to install and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. It’s very well made and I am so happy with this purchase. I plan on buying more in the future for other doors in my home. Can’t recommend this enough.
