I ordered the 3 cup black version as my first espresso maker of this type. I typically use a machine for a double shot and was looking for a more portable version for camping use. The 3 cup size is perfect for me and the simplicity of this type of coffee maker is certainly a big plus. The fit and finish is a little rough and I spent several minute bending the flip-top lid to get it even close to shutting correctly and finally just gave up before I broke something. It is a fairly soft aluminum lid and held on with rough rivet with sharp edges. The paint or powdercoat is not too bad, but out of the box had a few areas of shiny aluminum showing where the paint chipped. In hindsight, I should have ordered the shiny aluminum... The plastic handle and lid pull do their job, but may be problematic if used with a wood fire or any flame that gets a little beyond the base so probably not a good choice for campfire. The safety valve on the one I received ends up being located almost dead-center with the handle, so not too great if grabbing the pot to quickly get off the heat. From looking at the pictures on their ad page, it seems to be randomly located based on the threads and the silicon seal between the 2 pieces. As for making coffee, it does a great job, in my case using an induction cooktop with stainless adapter plate. I also followed the advice of James Hoffmann using a coarser espresso grind, non-tamped, clean pot, and kettle-heated water to start the espresso. At $16 a bargain and a nice addition to my variety of ways to prepare coffee. I'm deducting a star for the lid and paint issues. It might have been a 5 star for the non-painted version.

I do make my coffee for a while with a top stove coffee maker. I wish my old one didn't break. I bought this one and I use it right. I don't pack the coffee, I don''t put to much water in it and it doesn't work right. It just pushes half the water up and the rest, which I talk half the water stays in and doesn't make it up. After all my research it seems it is possible that the coffee maker is not manufactured right. I didn't read the reviews before, I thought what can the manufacture do wrong with it.... oh well. I will send mine back and buy me one made in Italy. Quality goes a long way. Don't buy this one. I am an expert in making these coffees, this one didn't let me have one cup yet.

Coffee leaks out the top when pouring and there’s always a substantial amount of water left in the reservoir when it’s done, no matter how long you leave it on heat for. If you’re looking for a cheap percolator that won’t be used everyday, this would suffice. If you’re looking for something durable and works well, spend the money and get a quality one.

I have several sizes of these stove top espresso pots and this one is not as good as the one I got in Italy. But it did make good espresso. I never seem to get 6 cups out of the 6 cup pot. Easy to prepare the pot with coffee and water. And with all pots of this type, I need to open the top to check the percolator and catch when done and water is empty from bottom section. The handle is sturdy and did not get hot from an electric stovetop. My only issue is several times it squirted water/coffee from the connecting section of top and bottom pieces. It does not do it all the time and I double check it is screwed tightly. Will keep trying and update the review should it continue.
