I really thought I’d landed the perfect alarm clock for me with this, but it’s been a little buggy since about a month into owning it. Periodically, the numbers on the screen go all wonky and become semi-illegible as well as shown in multiple unintentional colors. The attached photo is actually one of the milder examples of this. The only way I can get it to return to normal is by pressing the nightlight button until it’s back to the setting I want, and that usually fixes the weird display issue. But that’s certainly not ideal, right? And unfortunately, ever since this began happening, I’ve been hesitant to even use the alarm function because I’m afraid that won’t be reliable. I would’ve just returned it, but I was just barely outside the window for that the first time this happened. The search for a simple, reliable, cute alarm clock continues… *** Edit: A day or two after posting this review, I received a message from the seller expressing how sorry they were about my experience with the alarm clock and that they wanted to make things right with me. They offered to either send me a new one or refund me for my purchase. I was really surprised. I’ve never experienced anything like that before. It’s a smart business move. I changed my rating here from 3 stars to 4 because no company in the world executes things perfectly 100% of the time, mistakes happen, but making an effort to actually do right by someone who bought something that wound up being faulty from you is awesome. The coolest bedroom clock I have ever owned. With so many features and a great price, it's totally worth it and, in fact, I bought two of them. I appreciate the easy-to-use dimmer switch so there's no glare when I try to sleep at night, and I especially like the multicolor option for the numbers, which I set on both clocks. It has a very calming effect that helps me relax when going to sleep at night. During a recent power outage, it didn't lose it's time because of the backup feature using 2 AAA batteries. Finally, it was a breeze to set up in about 60 seconds. I did have one question about something and I sent an email to the company and, what a delightful surprise (-_-), a customer service rep, Susie, got back to me in one day and gave me the answer. Edit After i posted my review, believe it or not, a few days later i found a couple of discarded kirkland batteries in a school playground. As they looked clean and new i picked them up and tried them on this clock Contrary to my expectation, i still cannot unplug the clock after putting in the batteries However, what the batteries do is enable the clock to continue to tick internally when you unplug. This itself is a huge relief when I discovered it. So now my clock is "salvaged" using some random old battery and you know what? It looks awesome on my desk and i find myself delighted when i check out the time Yes I don't mind the non disposable batteries when a couple of them depleted ones were enough for this clock End edit It is quite useless without batteries, as the clock will get reset when unplugged. Duh? So I put battries, right? Wait a minute, check the type of battery. AA or AAA. Duh? So turns out it is a special type. Simple AA or AAA wil not do My rechargeable batteries - my formula for stressfree life -- useless. I need to go looking for that special voltage battery. No, I am not a battery shopping person, much less a super speciality battery shopping one.
