    • Design flaw with the unit has not been resolved...
There is a design flaw with this ice maker that causes it to fail. I know how to resolve the issue, but it was just easier to replace the whole unit. With this said, the unit is very easy to remove and install and ANYONE can do it. It takes about five minutes to remove and install, so this is a simple thing to do. DO NOT pay a repairman to come replace your unit. If your ice maker still has ice in the tray but the ice will not come out, you have encountered the design flaw with this unit. You can pull the tray out by pressing the tab at the front of the unit, and then pulling from the back. You will need to remove the panel to the left of the ice compartment and disconnect a power/communications cable from behind the panel. If you are buying this unit, you can then reverse the process to put the new one in. If you want to repair your existing unit, there is a thermal fuse that you have to replace. I have put a video on YouTube that shows how to do this if you choose to save the money and just replace the fuse. The video title is Samsung Ice Maker Repair - RF4287HARS/XAA AND SIMILAR MODELS. This will show you how to remove/replace the ice maker, and how to get to the thermal fuse. I’m so happy for this seller having the part I needed. When we needed a new ice maker for our Samsung refrigerator that we purchased used at an estate sale, the service tech informed us that the manufacturer was out of stock and unsure when any would be available. I had found this seller here on Amazon, and asked the tech if they would install if I ordered it myself (as this is an original part); he said they would install it. So I placed the order. The seller reached out to me before shipping and asked me to verify the serial/model with them to ensure I was getting the correct part. I sent them pictures of the information they requested, they verified it was actually the correct part and mailed it. It even arrived earlier than expected. The tech came out and had it installed within 20 minutes. Within a few minutes… we heard the water filling the ice tray! By that afternoon we had our first ice cubes. I discarded the first couple batches… And now we are enjoying ice from the automatic dispenser. Very satisfied with the seller and with the product! Great customer service! ... show more

    • Fixed my problem
This fixed my upper ice maker problem. My refrigerator is over 14 years old and the upper ice maker began to leak water on the existing ice causing a giant portion. It required manually breaking the ice apart to empty it. I'm assuming a sensor was bad allowing too much water so it would leak into the ice tray. I took my old one off to get the exact model #. I turned the upper ice maker off and found a video showing the very simple process. It took me less than 10 minutes to switch the unit out and it was an exact match.     • Bad. Conviently these only last right until the warranty expires.
It works temporarily. I purchased this March of 2024. It went bad June 2025. If you buy this just make sure you want to buy it again when it is conviently just outside of the warranty period. Seriously...don't waste your time or money. Buy a new refrigerator. I am not going to keep buying these refurbished ice makers at the cost they are to just have to buy another right after the warranty expires. ... show more

As many who own a Samsung Refrigerator, my ice maker decided to take a dump. I did get 13 years of service out of it though. So I ventured into the Youtube realm to figure out how to fix it. It was not repairable so I tried contacting Samsung but that was difficult. So I went to Amazon and found the exact OEM Ice Maker for a decent price. When it arrived, the box was slightly deformed so I thought perhaps it was a return. I removed the old one and popped in the new one and waited. In about 4-5 hours, new ice. I was so glad too.
