In prepping for this review, I researched alternative listings around the marketplace for a hot pot. I do that to compare how competitive the pricing is. The electric hot pot market is pretty competitive overall, and this listing is priced right in it. It seems fairly standard for less expensive ones to have 2 heat settings, 250w and 600w, and this matches that as well. In the brutal 2025 economy, it's refreshing to see good deals and competitive markets. So, I tried it with ramen naturally. I wish the non-stick bowl had markings for measurement, like 1 cup, 2 cup, etc., but I didn't see that in my research either so it's fine I suppose. The non-stick bowl casually seems to be of a good quality and I suspect that it will hold up. You just flick the switch for 250w or 600w of heating, and that's basically it, it's a very simple device. It brought my ramen to a respectable boil with the full 600w and that had me comfortable enough to try adding an egg in, which it again cooked just fine. You can't remove the bowl from the base unit as far as I could tell so just you have to unplug it and take the whole thing with you! To its credit, it guards against the heat well so you can plop this on your lap without fear of burn... unless you have a soupy ramen like me. 1.8L isn't the largest container so if you have too much of a water/soup/whatever base in it, then you're going to risk spilling it on you with small movements. So, that's just something to keep in mind, you might want a larger unit if you want to use it that way, or just use a table like a civilized human (unlike myself). Cleaning the unit was easy. This worked well for ramen. I can see it doing eggs, soups, it certainly has potential to be rather versatile. I enjoyed my time with this unit and I intend to keep it!

This is fantastic for small spaces like dorms and studio/efficiency apartments, which typically have tiny kitchens that rarely have full-size appliances (especially stoves/ovens). And it's portable, which makes it even better. Anything you can do on a stovetop, you can technically do with this as well. Though you can, I'd not do any small-scale deep-frying in this, but you can make anything from ramen to oatmeal to soups/stews to steak. The added steamer is a nice touch too. You have two settings, 200W and 600W, which allows you to adjust the heat according to what you'll be cooking. As for cleaning, it's easy enough. A wet soapy sponge will do just fine or, for baked-on items, let some soapy water simmer for a few minutes and then use a sponge to clean as usual. Overall, it's a nice item to have, especially when cooking for just 1-2 people.
