The connector for the loading cable fell into the device so i had to carefully disassemble the unit after a few month to reconnect it. There is no place for the charging device on the unit - easy to loose. After 2 years it doesn’t pump tires anymore and the (lead) battery pops from full to empty within seconds. Lot of money for the dozen or so times it was used.. Features are great but not a good investment in hind sight. Revision: So that is where I was a month ago. Decided to look for a better more sturdy unit and could not really find one! They all had some issues per reviews and most of them had a little less functionality. What I ended up using the unit most for was actually pumping up tires. That happens way more often than a dead battery. Very convenient to have a portable powered tire pump. This unit lets you set the pressure and then walk away- its stops by itself. It just has a lot of features and that means more things can brake. I hate to have things go to the landfill after two years. So I decided to call DeWalt and find out if they can repair it. I explained my problem and asked them if they had issues like that often and what lifespan to expect from this model. The guy said no they should last a lot longer and then said they would make a courtesy repair at no cost including shipping although the unit was just over 2 years old !!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow. Just came back - they replaced it with a new one. That is old school cool in my book. Advise: (as spelled out on the unit) Always charge after use. It is heavy because it has a lead battery inside and that does not like to sit half empty for weeks. Also the charging cable that does not have a storage spot on the unit actually fits behind the battery clamps on the left side and that way might not be destined to get lost after all. Be careful and gentle when plugging the charging cable into the back because that socket can easily dislodge and fall inside. Can be fixed but requires major disassembly. ... show more

    • No need to buy a Dewalt portable jumper

So after buying brand whatever type jumpers which typically lasted me 3 or 4 years it was time to buy another so I figured why not pay a little more for a Dewalt brand. So it arrived and I put it on the shelf in my garage since I had to to to Europe for 90 days. It was beyond the Amazon returnability period when I needed it and was dead. Even plugging in the charging cord did nothing. I contacted Dewalt support when I asked for help and was told it was out of warranty and " there are no user serviceable parts inside the unit" . So I asked what if the battery became unrechargable as most chargeable batteries eventually do. So fast forward they would not tell me a replacement battery number or way to service it. They told me when the battery wears out I need to safely dispose of the entire unit. So my advice is just buy a cheap-o unit. I brought the dead unit to Batteries Plus and one of the staff opened the Dewalt...determined the battery was defective and installed a new one for me. But my advice is the same. The extra money for the Dewalt was a waste of money. It provides no better function than a Brand X. And if you need tech support on this kind of item go to Batteries Plus. Must have items for car. Charge lasts for months when not used, but can jump a car 5-6 times without needing to be recharged. All other features work well and the ball needle is a plus for airing up grandkids toys.

This Dewalt power station sits around and does nothing, but you'll be glad you have it when you need it. Has multiple functions, a dead battery? jump your vehicle off with it. Need 120 power? It's there for you. No power to charge your phone or computer? plug it into the USB port or 120 AC power receptacle. So I had the AC cord plugged in and when i went to unplug it, it separated and left the prongs in the outlet. I then ordered a new one on Amazon and it didnt fit. So I tried contacting Dewalt and they dont list the item and the person I spoke to said it was a special item. He sent me to another website where I found nothing of help. Finally the Amazon person I chatted with gave me dewalt.12volt.com as a resource. They list the item so I sent them an email asking how to find the replacement cord. Ugh. Should have just bought the HALO, UPDATE: I went on to dewalt.12volt.com and emailed their support. I explained what happened etc and they without charge shipped out a new cord 2 days later. So excellent support from Dewalt. I hope it fits lol ... show more
