I am a DeWalt buyer, tried and true. Both the trimmer and blower are great for a homeowner. I run both of these tools off a DeWalt 6AH 20VMax battery. The trimmer can EASILY compete against a gas trimmer any day - I’m totally satisfied with the performance of this trimmer compared to my gas trimmer. The blower is excellent and can stand up against my gas blower as well. Battery life for both these items is excellent - I use both tools for my yard on one 6AH battery. ... show more

Both tools came together in one box, I have used them both, the weed eater worked well and had good speed or power for the job, while not consuming too much of the battery, I had finished in 1 hours. The blower worked better than I thought, it's was easy to use and was lighter than expected, it did use more battery, but I only needed 10 minutes to clean up. The mess, next time I will try the 5 Amp hour battery. But anything that turns as fast as the blower does will naturally use more energy, if it didn't I would take to long to do the same job. I would recommend both tools to anyone who is a do it yourselfer. ... show more

Overall satisfied with the performance vs price paid for this combo purchase (trimmer and leaf blower). I did purchase a bigger 5.0Ah battery to complement the 4.0Ah and we usually end up running the 5.0Ah in the leaf blower and 4.0Ah in the Trimmer. However, the blower still doesn't last as long as it should (imo), even with the 5.0Ah, hence the 1 Star deduction - Dewalt should state that a large capacity battery be used, we have yet to complete minor leaf blowing tasks without having the recharge it. We use it intermittently for tight spaces / corners and then switch to our gas powered backpack blower for the real work. The point is, it doesn't last around a typical USA house and getting the leaves and such blown out enough. The trimmer is fine - impressive power and lasts the duration of typical trimming needs (your mileage may vary). Summary - quite satisfied and would buy again - with a larger battery! ... show more

The blower is fantastic; of course, I have several batteries so battery life is not a problem, otherwise I might get frustrated. Okay lets move on to the trimmer. Who in Dewalt's Engineering department actually thought their trimmer head was well designed. After only 2 uses, I was ready to throw the whole thing in the garbage can, but decided to see if an aftermarket trimmer head would work. Several had good reviews, so I decided to go with a brand that I have come to trust. I decided on the "Husqvarna 537388101 Universal T35" The T35 came with adapters for many different models, and although no Dewalt was listed in their assembly instructions, it screwed right on (Left hand thread), and did not need any of the provided adapters. It works great so far, feels solid, and now makes this string trimmer a good value. This replacement head comes with .095 string, so it lasts longer. So far, the dewalt cutter blade has cut the thicker string with no problem, although it is kind of loud when it cuts the string; make sure you are at full speed after bumping to lengthen the string, or it may not cut the string. I have not used it enough to know for sure, but it seems as though each bump puts out a shorter length of new string than the Dewalt head does. If I am right on this, I like the idea of putting out shorter lengths each time. I do not know why Husqvarna does not list Dewalt as a model that their head can be used on. Perhaps over time it will damage the cutter blade, perhaps they are concerned that the heavier head may stress the Dewalt motor. These are the only reasons I can think of, so consider those possibilities. If these concern you, then look for a head that uses 0.080 string like the original Dewalt sting does. ... show more

I have a big lawn and lots of buildings to trim around. I thought the trimmer would have more power n last longer than it does. The trimmer doesn’t work very good for what I have to do. I go through 2 4 amp hr and 2 5 amp hr batteries doing my yard and the job isn’t done yet. But I have a lot to trim around. So for small yards this trimmer would be fine but not for big yards. So I think next year I’m going with another gas trimmer. The blower is awesome, I use it a lot. The batteries don’t last that long either but for the little I do use it, it works just fine. ... show more
