I've wanted to explore with a metal detector ever since I was a little girl. This was my first opportunity to actually use one. I was a little nervous and thought that for the price, maybe it wouldn't work. I was very surprised at how intuitive and sensitive this detector is! I took this to the beach and used it in the backyard of my home, which was built100 years ago. I had several small hits in both places, so it does work.     • Fun and great value, but could be improved
I ordered this to try to find a losr wedding ring in the back yard. However, next thing I knew I'd spent 2 hours in the back yard digging holes all over the place. Felt like a kid again, it was so fun. I ended up just finding about 20 nails/screws/scrap metal, but no ring. For being more of a "kids" metal detector, it does seem to be rather strong/sensitive. It did find a nail about 9-10 inches deep in the dirt. It comes with a plastic hand rake and shovel, but they are mostly suited for digging in the sand. My only real complaint is regarding that carrying case. You can't fit the detector in it without unmounting the monitor unit. The "tube diameter" is too narrow. And then there is a zipper pouch on the bottom that looks like it would be a great place to store the dirty digging utensils, but the compartment is too short for either. Completely frustrating. Still very happy with the overall experience, especially for the price. ... show more

I was surprised at how well this kids metal detector works. It looks and acts just like an adult metal detector but just kid size. The detector is made up of a combination of metal and plastic parts. While it definitely is not as solid as an adult detector, it's still pretty durable. Also, the mixture of metal and plastic allows for it to be lighter and easier for little ones to carry. The length of the detector is easily adjustable and so is the arm piece. The search coil is also easily adjustable so that it can be set at just the right angle for easy metal detection. The set comes with a shovel and a hand rake to allow kids to sift and dig through dirt and sand to find their treasures. The entire set also comes with a nice carrying case for everything to be stored. I haven't had the chance to use this detector outside because of bad weather, but I have used it inside our house. It actually was able to detect the nails along the beams of our underfloor. It has several different settings too to exclude different types of metals. The set is very easy to assemble and only took a few minutes. The only thing I didn't care for was that in order to fit the detector in the carrying case, I had to take the main screen off. It's not a huge inconvenience, but I still wish it could fit without having to do so. Overall, this is a very nice kids metal detector and I can't wait to take my daughter to the beach with it and let her explore with me. ... show more

My son has wanted one for a while now. When I saw this, I had to order it. It comes with some nice extras too. It has a backpack to carry it in, a small shovel and small rake. It even comes with two 9 volt batteries. It's just the right size for my son. I have to bend down to use it, but it's perfect for his height. It's a very lightweight detector and easy for him to carry. It has three different modes for different types metals to narrow down what you may want to look for. I couldn't find the volume control switch, which became annoying to me after just a little bit of use. It also only senses material up to five inches, which is not very deep. Buried treasure is usually deeper than that. Fun is the name of the game here spending more time with my son. ... show more

This metal detector is perfect for kids, but also for those that want to venture into treasure hunting, but have never used a metal detector before. Instructions are pretty on par for this particular detector. You do have to assemble this one, but you pretty much have to assemble any of the ones you'd buy on the market these days. Comes with batteries which is also a nice bonus because it's no fun getting to good part to realize you have to go buy batteries on top of it. The bag it comes with is just alright. The detector doesn't fit into it very well when it's all put together, so to me it's not even worth putting it on it. I will get something to store it in when it's not in use that will work a bit better. Overall good price for it and it works great! It's easy to pick up on if you haven't used a metal detector before. It's not the strongest, most expensive thing out there, but it's good enough, especially if you're just messing around to find fun treasures in your backyard. ... show more

I got this metal detector because I live next to a big field (not mine). I wanted to spend some time exploring and see what junk I could find. This actually works quite well. The display is easy to read and use. Follow the instructions for use and you will pick it up in no time. It may appear overwhelming but it is actually quite simple to use. I had the most difficulty getting this detector to go in the carrying bag. I just could not figure out how to get it in there. I ultimately disassembled the detector and placed the pieces in the bag. The bag is not weatherproof, just there to make it easy to carry. The metal detector comes in pieces and you have to put it together but it is not difficult at all. It even comes with batteries! It is not a professional piece or something a treasure hunter would use. But for your backyard, riverbeds, or beach walks, this is a great product for the money. Works well and easy enough to learn that a 10yr old has no issues with it. ... show more
