I needed something simple and in a single kit to bottle and cap my first batch of home brew. This kit is exactly what I needed. It shipped quickly and was packed perfectly to ensure the bottle didn't break. The capper worked great and now we're on the home stretch to some great home brew!

The bottles are just regular beer bottles, but they are nice and clean. The capper is what you buy the kit for. It works great and is worth the price.

My wife and I are new to home brewing but extremely thorough and well researched in our process, and there's nothing more frustrating than knowing we did everything right but worrying about the caps not being 110% secure after capping. We've now brewed 3 times and each time the capping process was the most difficult and miserable part of the experience. Literally every single time, for every single cap, and every single bottle, the capper will not catch and push the cap onto the bottle properly unless I spend a minute or 2 pre-bending each cap with my fingers... And even then, I have to struggle with the capper until it fully depresses and I'm 99% sure the cap is probably secure. Luckily, after all that work, all 30 beers we've bottled have survived... But, there have been a few times when just touching the cap while moving a beer (before even opening it), we'll hear some air leak out. So even though we haven't had any beers go totally flat, we're not convinced each cap was on as securely as it should be. Since this was our first bottling kit, we have no way of knowing whether the problem was one of two things, or both: 1) Caps don't match bottles securely enough and are too wide to be caught properly by the capper (again, pre-bending these is a real pain, and doesn't completely solve the problem), or 2) There's a flaw in the capper that causes it to not catch the caps properly. I'm talking about applying brute force to the point of worrying about shattering the bottle or damaging the capper. Even after pre-bending the caps. If you're relatively new to the process, I would not recommend taking a chance on this kit. You don't want your hard work going to waste over this junk. Only giving 2 stars because I can't really say anything bad about the bottles. ;) ... show more
