I was fermenting a ginger ale, and less than 24 hours into the 48 hour ferment, one of the bottles exploded. Thankfully I had them contained in a cooler. The photos show what I believe to be the weak wall of the glass. One side of the shard is much thinner than the other side. Hard to say if this affects more than one of the bottles I received, but I'm handling them very gently now and will be regularly burping the remainder until they are chilled completely.

I am SO pleased that each bottle was individually double-wrapped in bubble wrap AND extra cardboard placed along each of the 4 sides of the box for extra protection. All bottles received in great shape. I plan to use these to make my own kefir soda and kombucha. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Such high quality and at a good price too!

There are many of this style of bottle for sale. Originally, I chose this one because the product information and pictures accompanying the listing were very useful and appropriate for my questions. Additionally, it got good reviews from buyers. I've been using these bottles for about a month now, and I can concur with other reviewers: I have nothing but positive things to say about them. The bottles are well-made, the seal is so tight we have no problem laying these bottles down on their sides in the refrigerator shelves. The top locking mechanism is not flimsy, so I have confidence they will not break off. The bottles come with a silicone collapsible funnel to help fill them, an unexpected nice extra. A few details I can provide that I found not completely clear in reading the descriptions and reviews: - the box holding the bottles was basically a corrugated cardboard box within another corrugated cardboard box -- very safely protected - the bottles are also triple-ply rolled in bubble wrap upon arrival to protect them. I had no broken bottles. - the bottles each hold 33.75 oz - the height of each bottle is 12.5" when sealed closed (this was very important to me as they would not have fit standing up in my refrigerator door shelf if they were taller)
