    • Huge win on this skillet
I spent a LOT of time reading reviews before buying this, and I'm very happy I did. We were replacing an old-fashioned skillet (the kind gramma used to use) and really liked the basic features: the heating element is effectively welded to the bottom, the pan is solid and distributes heat well, the entire unit is submersible and safe to wash, and it was solid and felt well built. This unit is all that, AND it's newer non-stick surface is a dream. It's bigger than the old one, and still heats evenly... we can simmer sauce or boil water in it, or make pancakes or eggs and have everything heat evenly, no problem. The vented glass top is a nice addition. When done, put it in the sink or dishwasher and completely clean it and just let it dry... simple as that. The heating element works exactly like the old one: easy to access & read and holds temp well (doesn't fluctuate wildly when it reaches temp). Yea it costs more than the "recommended cheap brands" but I HIGHLY recommend it! ... show more

Added 2 updates below. Got home from work and was excited to see my package on the porch. Excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I opened the box. My pan is full off scratches, see pic. I probably would have lived with the few small surface scratches but these are extensive and the deep scratch in the bottom is horrible and the non-stick coating will quikly start peeling. The shipping box was fine but the product package had a smashed corner with some broken styrofoam inside but this did not cause any damage to the pan. There was nothing loose inside the package to scratch the pan so it was packaged in this condition, sad. I thought DeLonghi was more reputable and I was getting a higher quality product including some quality control. Update on 8/13/17, last four pics Returned the first skillet for exchange, kudos to Amazon for making it quick and easy. When the second Skillet came the cardboard was torn and the styrofoam insert was broken in half. It had obviously been opened and most likely a returned item for the same reason I returned mine. Upon inspecting the pan it appeared dirty and scratched as bad as the first one. At this point I was fairly angry for receiving not only one but two shoddy products in a row and was about to return it for a refund and go with another brand. Since there were no deep scratches down to the metal I decided to clean it instead of throwing in the towel. The skillet cleaned up relatively well except for a few scratches, most of the light ones are barely visible but two scratches are shown in the last picture. I want to like this skillet and although it was scratched all to hell and excessively dirty right out of the box it seems to be built fairly well and because of all the 5-star reviews I may try to cook with it before returning. Hopefully this thing can cook better than it gives a first (and 2nd) impression. If it cooks as well as the reviewer say I might just keep it. I will update again after using. 9/26/17 update Razed my rating to 4 stars from 2 The aluminum pan thickness distributes heat evenly thus cooks without hot spots. The DeLonghi skillet is in fact the thickest I've seen and thicker than another name brand a friend uses at work and cost $10 more. The heat control work good and seems to be very accurate. I will in fact buy another one to put in my camper. Honesty I would give 10 stars if DeLonghi took more care to protect it from damage. PS. I work in manufacturing and I suspect that these pans are being stacked inside each other during the manufacturing process, if you get one off the top it will be good, one's from the bottom will be increasingly damaged. NOTE to DeLonghi: I hope you don't go down the cheaper for higher profit margin path. I gladly pay more for "real" quality. ... show more

    • Great heat distribution
This is a very large pan, but when I want to brown meat for a crowd it is perfect. Heat distribution is the best part of this pan. It's a tool that does its job very well. And looks good doing it. When I'm done, cleanup is a breeze.

I purchased this for my Mom for her birthday and she loves it. It's a nice size as well as nice quality. UPDATE: I purchased this grill for my Mom for her birthday and she was pleased with how big it was so I decided to also purchase one for myself from Cuccinabella. THAT was a BIG mistake purchasing from them! My grill looked new but the thermostat plug obviously wasn't new! The box for the thermostat had oil on both ends AND the unit had a ding in it where you adjust the temp, not to mention the plug-in part was all discolored from being used. Upon receiving and opening the box I was very upset and contacted seller as well as Amazon to report this and requested a full refund as well as them to pay for the return shipping costs. The company wrote me back the next day stating "I am sorry to hear that. We normally ask for pictures of the item to see who was in charged of packing it the condition but we trust you are being honest so I just went ahead and issue your refund you should see it back to your card that you used to pay for the grill in 1 day. As far as the grill as a token for our mistake we will let you keep it. Again sorry for the inconvenience, we noticed that you bought another grill from us before so we wouldnt want to lose you as a customer for this mistake. Please keep the grill as a token for our mistake". I thought that was an honest attempt from the company to right a wrong. That was until the seller got caught trying to deceive me on only paying me $35 and not the TAXES and SHIPPING/HANDLING fees associated with the purchase. Total purchase cost of item, taxes, and s/h came to $51.89. Since they had to refund me yesterday for the full amount, I received a UPS mailer from them this morning now wanting the item returned. I just want to make others aware of the bad business practices, order at your own risk! ... show more
