  • Works well
Have to say it’s working great. I approached this very warily as some of the reviews are sketchy. I have to assume most of peoples problems are user error, and not understanding how to secure hosing so that it won’t leak. I’m using this inline with co2 on a fluval407 in our 55 gallon planted tank. I monitor the temperature at both input and output using a typical npt sensor and gauge and water leaving the tank is within a degree of water entering the tank, with temps matching what the heater reports. Reliable and accurate so far. Yes, don’t run your heater dry. Yes, you NEED hose clamps. Yes, it’s directional. Yes, it shuts off if temp is over set point. ... show more

  • Stay far away! Leaky and Dangerous!
This thing is absolute junk. I tied it into my new canister filter and immediately experienced leaks, even when sliding the hoses far down over the nipple and tightening the locking nuts until my fingers were bruised. Today, when I moved my canister filter a hose tore off the nipple and spilled several gallons of water before I could jam it back on. If that's not enough for you to believe you should stay away from this product, read on. As I tried to alleviate the problem I found that the tightening nuts on the nipples did very little to keep the hoses on. When reattaching the heater to the nipple BOTH sides cross-threaded (I've worked with fittings long enough to ensure I do not cross-thread them - these nipples are junk) and were nearly impossible to get off. While undoing the nipples the entire heater assembly separated from the housing - the valves, heating assembly and hosing literally spun in the housing. Needless to say that one day into owning this heater it is no longer safe to use, as the heating assembly has literally broken free of the housing. Additionally, the instructions included with the heater were incredibly vague on installation and were filled with grammatical errors. This could have been a great heater if DaToo had just created separate products for each size tubing instead of including three nipples for various sized tubing (it includes adapters for several sized hoses). As it stands, having fittings that are threaded into the heater body and nuts intended to hold the hose to the nipple make this prone to failure. You literally twist the nut to tighten the hose in the same direction that loosens the nipple from the heater assembly! This thing is begging for leaks! I hope my review helps other customers look elsewhere for an inline aquarium heater - if the details are too cryptic, let me leave you with this: do not purchase the DaToo In-Line Aquarium Heater; the cheap one-sized fits all nature of this product will fail on you. If, for some reason, you do decide to purchase this, I hope you're not left with gallons of water gushing from your tank like me. ... show more

  • Works exactly like you would expect
I have been using this for about a month now with no complaints. I will say that the water flow has to go a specific direction or it will throw the over temp error code as you are feeding the water that it has heated across the temp sensor. The flow should go in from the bottom of the unit and out the top. It should also be noted that the temp is a little off, which I’m not overly worried about. I have it set to 77 Fahrenheit. It reads 76 on the display. If it drops under 76, it will heat to 77 and settle back at 76. My tank thermometer reads 78 all the time, so the way I see it, it is doing its job at keeping the temp consistent. ... show more

  • Works great with cannister filter
This heater is working great with my canister filter. Temperature accuracy is very close and well within any acceptable margin for any species of fish. My only complaint really is that it displays an error code rather than the current water temperature if the water is warmer than the current setting. ... show more

  • Not to impressed
This product only worked for 1 year before it started throwing an E-8 error code and no longer works. It was great while it lasted. Not sure if i want to try another one or not based off the reviews, price, and quality.

  • Space saver
I prefer the inline heaters vs the hang on side or submersibles. Just keep in mind that it requires water in the tube at all times. If you’re gonna clean your tank and stop the water from running just unplug it. If ever you get an “E code” i think it’s E15 but don’t quote me. It’s simply means the temperature of the water in the tank is higher than the heater parameters. So if your water temperature is 83° but the heater’s thermostat is set to 79° it will read that code. There’s nothing wrong with the heater nor did w heater make your tank warm but it can be used as a warning that your aquarium could be too warm which isn’t good for reef tanks. Possibly the room temperature is too hot. ... show more
