I bought the Danby 8.5 Cubic Ft upright freezer in July of 2021 for a half side of beef I’d ordered. (The beef took up about 7 cu ft.) It’s in my garage which is heated and averages about 65 degrees through the winter. This thing works great. It seals very well and will draw somewhat of a vacuum when you shut the door. What’s impressive is that I only defrost it once a year and it could go longer. With 3 shelves and the bottom tray along with storage in the door, you have good access to whatever you want to store. After 2 1/2 years, I have no complaints.

The freezer is doing what freezers are supposed to do. The size is just what I needed, though the dimensions and weight listed in the Amazon description were a little off from the manufacturer's, but not enough to make a difference. It's very quiet and the door seals are functioning keeping the cold in. I'm hopeful it will prove to be a reliable product (I've only been using it for a few days). Now the strange thing. This was not the freezer I ordered. I ordered the white model, but received the stainless steel model. The white and stainless models are otherwise identical and have the same specs. The main difference is pricing. The stainless model sells for a couple hundred dollars more than the white. I got more than I paid for. Since the freezer is in the cellar, the appearance/color is not an issue. To return and replace it would surely be a major hassle. The Amazon purchase was through a third party vendor (not FBA). I've found that sometimes you don't get exactly what is described when going through one of these vendors. The freight delivery of the freezer was OK. However, it would have been helpful if there was a text message or even a knock on the door to announce the delivery had been made. I didn't hear anything that day and thought the delivery was delayed. I accidentally left the garage door open and discovered the freezer in the garage the next morning. The freezer was well packed and there was no damage. So far I'm pleased with the purchase despite the hiccup of not receiving what I ordered and the quirkiness with the delivery. I'm happy with the outcome.

The freeze is great. Got it set up and plugged in and set the control and it started to chill down immediately. Runs very quiet and many times I have to check to see if it is still running. The delivery of the freezer sucked royally. I signed up to be notified when the freeze would be delivered. I was told the freezer wouldn't be delivered until beginning of February. Two weeks prior to the beginning of February, the freezer was delivered with no notification, left in my driveway under the eves where melting snow dripped on the container. No one knocked on my door or texted me to tell me the freezer was delivered. My roommate happened to be out and returned to tell me that a freezer was sitting outside on the driveway; needless to say, I was amazed. I moved the freeze into the house and unpackaged it only to find out that the top piece is cracked, which is okay, it is not a huge crack. The part that pisses me off is that one of the sides has two dings in it as though a fork lift was rammed into it twice.

Purchased in November 2020, problems from day 1. Frost accumulated on shelves thought I had it too cold so lowered temp. Didn't work contacted company told me to use a blow dryer around seal which I did 3 times, didn't fix problem. After going back and forth till March told them I wanted a refund and to pick this piece of garbage up. They wanted me to take pictures of me removing the Serial/Model # tabs and a picture of me cutting the cord!! What!!!! Where am I supposed to put my frozen food. Finally got my refund excluding the taxes they told me I'd have to get that refund from my country. WOW the whole experience was pathetic and stupid me bought the extended warranty which I don't think I'll be able to get a refund for that. I never contacted Amazon about any of this so no blame to them whatsoever but I probably should have. I'm in my 60's and have never experienced this type of customer service if that's what they call it. Buy at your own risk!! I don't usually leave bad reviews but just want to warn anyone thinking of purchasing this item. No Danby products for me ever again!!!! Old saying Buyer Beware! Would give a 0 rating but can't.

The size is good but it creates too much frost. I had a Danby fridge for years and was very happy with it.(sold it with my property) so purchased this smaller freezer and don't like that I have to scrap frost.

The freezer is perfect size for two and cools to minus 20. When the door is shut, the freezer "sighs" and makes a sound like air escaping. No mention of this sound in the manual, so I sent an email to Danby (with a recording of the sound), who said the sound is not supposed to be there. An appliance dealer with decades of experience says that the sound is normal for a freezer without a drain hole (no drain hole in this model). The Seller (CyberSavings) agreed to extend my warranty an additional three years (plus the Danby 5 year warranty). The Sound is mildly annoying but the freezer works great and is silent. Very pleased with freezer and Seller's response.

I went with this freezer as it was just the right width to get through my door frame, just barely. I was a little disappointed with the bottom shelf, as it's not the same size as the 3 shelves above, and it's where the drip tray is. It's usable, but thought I could put bigger items on the bottom shelf. The upper shelves are about 14" deep, the bottom one is 8" deep. The freezer lines run down the one side, and take up some space as well. I like it, it's sleek and slim, and seems to freeze well, I've only had it 4 days.

We are very pleased with the size and the look. It freezes very well, rock hard actually, at level 7-8. It is not frost free, and already the frost is starting to build, but I open it everyday. If it were frost free it would be perfect. Also, shipping was prompt and trouble free. I’ve had it about a month, so I can’t say more about its efficiency, etc. it does come with a five year warranty.
