I gave it to my husband for our anniversary. He tried not to show it, but he wasn't impressed. We prepared a meal similar to eating at The Melting Pot restaurant when you can choose to cook your entre on a griddle. He had purchased a nice steak and started to head outside w it to cook on the grill which defeated the whole purpose of our dinner in my opinion. He reluctantly decided to go along with my plan of cooking everything on the raclette. Hee ended up enjoying the experience as did his 91 year old father and our 15 year old son who asked why we can't cok like that every night and if we could use it when he invites his best friend over. We each threw half a piece of bacon on the heated surface and put some cheeses in the pans. We ate the cheese on some toasted baguette slices and then crumbled the bacon over individual salads. While we ate the salad we cooked various vegetables and meats like sliced squash, zucchini, onions, and mushrooms and small pieces of steak, salmon, shrimp, and kielbasa. Cooking while eating takes time so you ultimately get full on less and spend more time conversating. I can't wait to do it again with friends and family. Although there are 8 pans, I don't think it would work well for 8 people. 6 max, but better w 4. I was also thinking if it's 4 people we could use the extra pans for a dessert. And last, it cleaned up very easily with a quick wash with a soapy cloth. ... show more

The grill doesn't heat up very fast, maybe due to the grill plate being elevated. Takes a while to get a good sear on meats. But definitely fun to use during a small get together or family dinner.

I thought this was such a nice idea for the girls night I went to. The hostess cut up a vat of fresh veggies, there was raw chicken, raw shrimp, corn, potatoes. We all sat around a table and grilled our own food. It was amazing!

I ordered this after going to a raclette dinner party at a friend's home. Very pleased with the operation and appearance of this unit. We cut up steak and chicken into bite-size pieces and then bag them up in marinades. Accompanying that, is buttered sourdough bread to melt cheeses onto, mushrooms, onions, and peppers, etc. Everyone puts what they want on the grill and makes mini-sandwiches with it. The sourdough has been cut and buttered in a size that fits into the side trays. Put some Gouda or Swiss cheese on it and when the cheese is melted put some steak or chicken on and then top it off with the other fixins'. Delicious! While grilling, conversation flows. Everyone willingly gathers around the dinner table to grill, tell stories, and eat...instead of grabbing something and retiring to different corners of the house to eat while playing games on their phones. Cleanup is SUPER easy - the surface wipes right off. We use the included wood paddles to move things around as they sizzle and also have bamboo skewers on the table to assist in that as well. If you buy it thinking you're going to do 1" thick full-size steaks at the table you're going to be disappointed. Try stir-fry size pieces though and you'll be pleased. I think the description says "up to 8 people" or something like that, and that's optimistic. With 3-4 people around one grill, the size and cooking speed are just about perfect. ... show more

Love this grill. Makes great toast for sandwiches. I wish it had a control for both sides instead of just one for both. For example eggs on one side bacon on the other or toast. They need different temperatures. However I'm using it everyday.
